One thing I really miss about being back home is that I can't buy fruit cakes to give to all the people I secretly despise.

Someone, please help me out.

I must be one of those strange people who love fruit cakes as gifts.

I can eat that particular type of cake 365.

It is too bad they don't have them here, as they are so heavy, the one time I got my family to send me one the cost wasn't worth it.

I thought I was the only person who loved fruitcake--the more fruit, and less flour, the better.

I truly hate the things. Grandma would give those crappy almost-cakes to everyone as a bite-me Christmas present. If they are fresh you can swallow some..but you get one a few months old and you need dentures.
It's not so much the fact the she gave the same thing to us year after year...its the fact that she had specific Christmas demands (almost emotional terrorism) that had to be met.
Christmas Blows chunks of fruit cake.

So, just out of curiousity--what were her Christmas demands?

Heheh...Grandma not easy going trust me. She actually tells people what she wants and expects it to happen. She ruined Christmas every year for my mother. The fruit cake is a trigger for a Christmas phobia. Razz
