When applying for Korean ESL jobs, are letters of reference to be sent directly from the recommendation writer? Or, am I supposed to send them together with my other application materials?

How many letters are needed? Is one good one enough, two perfect, and three too many? Or, can there never be too many?

Also, if I have volunteer experience teaching, can I include a letter from my supervisor? Or, does it have to be from a boss at a paid teaching job or it won't be worth including?

Is there any stipulation about length [1pg or 2?] and what must be covered in the letter?

Letters of recommendation are not really necessary. At all. They can't hurt, but I doubt if they help. Keep the number low.

The letter from the supervisor is probably the most useful because it relates directly to teaching experience.

From what I understand of Korean letters of recommendations, all they say is Kim Min-Suk worked here from X to Y. That's all.

I think you have an unclear idea of what the ESL industry is like here in Korea. Experience is not necessary. Just express an interest and enthusiasm for working with kids and you will be offered a job just as good as someone with teaching certification and years of experience.

Good luck

Would you like me to write you a reference letter?

You left out the part about being handsome and most especially white.

Having blonde hair and blue eyes trumps teaching experience and training anytime.
