The point is not whether the US will actually do it, its that when the US blusters the Conservatives and US-lovers in Canada go on about how decrim-pot isn't worth it. Yet when we rail about illegal gun smuggling (which has killed infinitly more people than pot, a fact I dare anyone to try and challenge) all the Canada-haters on this board go crazy because we are just bashing America again. In typical US fashion they want something their way and no other way will do. |

How about 98% to the Canadian governments for allowing gangs to grow in Canada and say 2% to the US for having lax handgun laws which allow guns to end up smuggled into Canada. |
That's about right, yes. |

Honestly, few people could seriously care less about canadian pot laws.. if some idiotic conservative says something dumb.. tighten up your thin skin.. they said they wished san francisco was attacked by terrorists as well.. but you don't see San Franciscans crying that they should change local laws to make DC conservatives not say things like that.
Same with NYers, Massachusetts 'liberals', New England, Pacific Northwest culture, upper midwest liberal culture, Hollywood, etc.. yet its just hard to believe that Canadians have such thin skin to record and discuss for years and years every single time an american conservative politician hurts their feelings. |

You always do this. You always talk about how there are two Americas. Maybe you are right, but you all look the same to us. You meet Canadians that are hostile to America, and you paint us all with the same brush. We do the same thing with Americans. We are concerned about our image in the US, what sense would it make for us to ignore statements by American government officials? |

If you are so concerned about your image in the US, why do you stand for the leaders of your country disrespecting the US?

Actually, there are two Americas. There's the EFLTrainer America, and there's the Gopher America. Are you telling me that you can't see a difference there?

My dear Pyongshin: given the proportions of the standard Canadian girl in South Korea today, I do not believe it would be feasible to paint even one of you with the same brush, let alone the entire population.
Maybe "you paint us all with the same paint roller" would be more appropriate? In any case, I know that you are one of the most spiteful NotAmericans.
So kiss kiss, baby.
And Plig, thanks for noticing the differences. Cheers. |

Interesting article.
Of course, if W. Bush were not president, Canadians wouldn't be saying things like this, because all of the anti-American hostility is related to the current Administration...

Really? Links please?
I don't think that anyone has said "ALL". It has definitely risen though, no denying that. But I don't blame the Mayor of Toronto (who is a clueless clown by the way) I blame Michael Moore. |

Links to back up my sarcasm?
I've heard people reduce all/the most significant part of/much of of Canada's antiAmericanism to W. Bush so many times I don't need to cite it. Or that it didn't really exist when Clinton was president because Canada loved the U.S. then, or that Clinton could be the next prime minister if he wanted the job, etc. Come on, dude. At least acknowledge this.
If not, I'll put together a series of quotes and links from this board, if you are seriously challenging me on this point. |

When has the leader of my country disrespected the US?

I haven't even lived in Canada during most of the Bush presidency. My ideas on America long pre-date Bush.

Are you telling me that you ascribe values and personalities to internet user ID's? I guess that makes you part of the insane America.

So, reasoned debate goes out the window and Gopher reverts to the sexism he learned in boot camp all those years ago. Hardly surprising. |

But why do you find it unsettling, indeed perplexing, that a different political consensus could exist in a continent as large as North America? Did you really expect us to buy the American dream hook, line and sinker? |
