hold on....the "right" is the side that seems to be under the impression that aq is "jealous" of their freedom.
geez, that is so tacky.... |
What Bush said was tacky and unaccurate. Al Qaida hates freedom but that is not why they attacked.
They fight to get the US out of the mideast so they can conquer it themselves, but Al Qaida has designs far beyond the middle east.
It is foolish to think that Al Qaida will stop attacking if the west just does a few things to make its polices less offensive to Al Qaida.

as a context to this all....uhm....has the precise group been pinnned? Last i heard it was all still up in the air and about 3 groups were claiming responsibility. |
whatever they all share the basic Al Qaida ideology.
Whether Al Qaida did it or an Al Qaida franchise did it they have the same world wide agenda.

Also, there are what....HOW many terrorist groups? Do they ALL have the previously stated agenda joo? |
I don't know how many terror groups there are but Al Qaida fights for the Caliphate.

Why did Al Qaida do the Bali bombing? |
because of Australia's support of American troups? |
[/quote]
The Bali bombing happend way before the Iraq war. Indeed over a year before. When it wasn't clear that in most of the world that the US was going to take down Saddam.
and it was planned well before that time too.
Quote: |
The Bali Bombing occurred on October 12, 2002 in the town of Kuta on the Indonesian island of Bali, killing 202 people and injuring a further 209. It is considered the deadliest act of terrorism in Indonesian history. The majority of the dead were foreign tourists, especially Australians and Britons, but nearly one fifth were Indonesian nationals. |

And the group that did was Jemaah Islamiyah
Who is Jemaah Islamiyah?
Quote: |
, sometimes rendered Jemaah Islamiah, is a militant Islamic separatist movement, suspected of killing hundreds of civilians, dedicated to the establishment of a fundamentalist Islamic state in Southeast Asia, in particular Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia, and the south of Thailand and the Philippines.
Financial links between Jemaah Islamiyah and other terrorist groups, such as Abu Sayyaf and al-Qaeda, have been found to exist. Jemaah Islamiyah means "Islamic Group" or "Islamic Community" and is often abbreviated JI.
Jemaah Islamiyah are suspected of having executed the Bali car bombing on October 12, 2002. In this attack, Jemaah Islamiyah suicide bombers killed 202 people and wounded many in a nightclub. After this attack, The U.S. State Department designated Jemaah Islamiyah as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. Jemaah Islamiyah is also suspected of carrying out the Zamboanga bombings, the Metro Manila bombings, and the 2004 Jakarta embassy bombing. |
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jemaah_Islamiah
The Bali bombing probably happened because of Austalia's support of Timor's independence.
don't be in denial. Al Qaida will not stop attacking if the west just stops doing somethings that are offensive to Al Qaida. Al Qaida fights for the Caliphate and then probably to move on from there.
They intend to forcibly convert everyone in the world to their form of religion or kill them. It is probably true to say that the existance of other relgions or socieities even outside the mideast is unacceptable to Al Qaida. |
