So I've got a friend here who used to be on anti-depressants. She has been off them for a couple of years now but feels she is slipping back to where she was before. How does someone get that sort of prescription? She does not know the name of the anti-depressant she was on before. Are there any (celexa or something like that) that someone can get by simply asking a pharmacist?
Thanks for any help you can offer. |

Why doesn't she contact her old doctor and ask for the name? |

The doctor at the International Clinic in Itaewon can dole out brain meds. His area of study was psychology, etc. He speaks excellent English. A bit pricey, though!
There are a lot of foreigners doped up on depression meds through that office. A LOT. |

I use to use Welbutrin but now I am on alternative therapy which seems to be working quite well for me. |

In Korea a psychologist can prescribe medication? I wouldn't take it. |

He may have meant psychiatry. Psychiatrists can, of course, prescribe drugs. |

Makes you wonder why such foreigners stay in Korea if, as many say, living in Korea is stressful. |

I believe you can walk into a lot of clinics to get a prescription.
It's quite simple. |

I walked into a clinic in my building and told them I have been on Celexa for 2 years and needed a prescription.
Funny thing is they only prescribed me for 10 days at a time because they say that I could get depressed and try to overdose on my meds. Uhh... |

Celexa is what that doctor in Itaewon prescribes a lot. As soon as you can, slowly work yourself off of it and try getting into exercise instead, if that works for you. Celexa made my friend have terrible mood swings. Exercise makes your body put out a natural fight/flight chemical that helps to balance you out. Try at least 30 minutes per day, three to four times per week. You will literally feel better within a few days. Don't overdo it to start. |

They probably prescribe it most because it is low-dose and has the least sexual side effects (in most people who take it).
I actually got off of it two months ago Only because it was actually time for me to, not cause it made me moody or anything.
Like any antidepressant, some work well for some people, and others work terribly. I wouldn't want to go to a doctor here to get diagnosed... they seem to just write anything out and send you on your way. Freaky |
