It cost about 1,600,000 won (return ticket) a week before christmas and I booked months in advance, but it cost me 900,000 won (return) in March last year when I booked only 3 weeks in advance. Timing is important, and you might get higher prices if youre travelling near the lunar new year....

I booked through my agent in NZ, it was 100,000 won more but I was thankful for having an agent whose first language was English when Korean Air went on strike!

I got quotes from a lot of different agents in Korea and the price was generally the same for all of them, but keep in mind that they'll all reserve seats when you contact them and then you have to go and cancel them all when you find an agent you like! Frustrating!

I paid 950k to go Air New Zealand via Tokyo over christmas last year. Ask around the travel agents here or ask the airlines direct.

Korean air is the only direct flight between auckland and seoul and they charge like wounded bulls because of that. If you are willing to take a detour to Singapore, Thailand or Malayasia you'll find cheaper prices.

Although my parents paid for my flight and my mum would have had nothing less than direct.... (gets me home quicker see)

The bars are temples but the pearls ain't freeeeee

900 000 is a great deal. Everything I've seen online is upwards of a million won. I saw an ad in an english newspaper for 800 000 W(!) Seoul to Auckland. Couldn't believe that, cut out the article and gave it to ...... who being the scatter-brains that he is lost it promptly the next day. He's confident he'll get a cheap ticket by waiting though, I just want any old ticket mind you...
