Hi.
KTF screwed up and didn't deduct my bills from my bank account. Now my phone has been turned off and I don't know where to pay. Has this happened to anyone? Could I pay at a KTF store?
Thanks...I am the only English speaker at my school so my teachers are no help at all. |

Any KTF place should be ok. BTW..I'm buying a KTF phone this week. I'm wondering...can I put it in my name or do I need a Korean? |

I got my phone in my name. I brought my passport, bank card, alien card, and a buddy to translate. I've heard LG does this too. |

I use SKTelecom and have a KB account, so it may be different for you, but I always go to KB Bank to pay my bills (they have Bill Pay machines). If you can't figure out how to use it, ask someone working there- the first couple of times I needed the security guy to do it for me, but I've since figured out how to do it on my own (there are no English instructions).
I'm pretty sure this is standard for all phone companies (I also use it for my Hanaro internet account). Check with whatever bank you use- if it doesn't work with their machines, they'll probably tell you where to go. |

If immediate reconnection is an issue though, its better to pay at a phone outlet -- they'll have your phone operative again in 10 minutes. Via the bank you'll have to wait (a day or 2?) for processing. |

Well...I sat for two hours in the KTF Customer Center near Changdong last night. Turns out they entered a 7 instead of a 4 when they were putting in my alien card number. It took two managers over 90 minutes to figure this out and an additional 30 to change it in the computer. I showed them my card and they said that the card number must be wrong and insisted that I showed them a different alien card with a different number when I activated my account.
That makes so much more sense than simple human error, right? |

I believe you can pay them at any little mart, except for the privately owned ones.
I pay mine at Family mart. KTF telecom. |

Just bought a used KTF phone. Will I have to pay a deposit to get it turned on for regular service? |

Around my area, people were told to go to the local post office to pay bills since the bank no longer accepts them.
Also, if you got regular service, you can have the money automatically deducted from your account. When you register your phone and start the service, you can call the company's 114 number (different from the national 114 line) and ask to speak to someone in English, they will walk you through the steps needed to have the money deducted monthly from your account.
Most of the time, you need to bring your bank book with you when you apply for a phone here anyway. |
