|
|
Say you like to travel mid-budget, don't have hotels booked, might do a bit of travelling around, aren't planning any major sex tourism, might do a few adventurous things but aren't planning on parasailing and SCUBA diving every day, are satisfied with cheap beer... how much Thai currency would you want for two weeks, what would it equate to in Won, and where would you recommend getting it converted?
Thanks in advance for any help! |

I took $1000 USD for a two week trip and spent it all. Of course, I did some flying in country and stayed in a couple of decent hotels in Bangkok and partied nearly every night I was there. If you stay in bungalows or 2 star hotels, eat street vender food, don't party too much and stick to the trains and buses, you should be able to get by on half that. Take $800 USD (100 bills get the best exchange in thailand), a couple of travelers checks and a credit card for emergencies. You get a crap exchange on travelers checks, but they are good if your cash gets stolen. Use a money belt and the hotel safe. |

I'd take 3 Gs for 2 weeks at least. More. But I like to eat rice every meal in Korea and live well on a holiday. |

If your ATM card says international on it then you can use the ATM machines in Thailand and not worry about carrying so much cash around with you. That's what I do, anyway. |

this man is correct. 30 bucks/day is not living it up, but not going bare bones.. Judging by what you want, i'd say 800 bucks sounds about right. |

A budget of $50-75 a day (including hotel) is quite enough for Thailand. Yu should check out the ancient captial of Sukothai. It's not exactly off the beaten path but it's still refreshing. Another great place is Chaing Rai along the Mayanmar (Burma) border. Rent a murdercycle in Chaing Mai and spend a couple of days checking out the hill tribes.
Change Won into Bhat in Korea. The big exchange banks in downtown Seoul stock Baht or change money at Incheon airport. No need to change Won to $ unless Yu want's traveler's cheques.
Kangnam Mafioso is 100% correct. Get a good money belt and ALWAYS use the hotel (front desk) safe. |

Are you kidding? 50. to 75. dollars a day? what are you spending it on? Thailand is so cheap. A motorbike is about 100. for a month(or 150 baht for a day), so is a room, and food come on it's so cheap. Unless your just coming here for sex and drinking. A girl will cost you about 2000.baht a day. |

Rooms and motorbikes for a $100 a month. Where is that, exactly? |

Any guesthouse or motorbike shop will give you a weekly or even a monthly rate, all you have to do is ask. Most people don't. Even when you go to the outdoor markets may it be shopping for food, clothing whatever, everything is bargained for. But most foreigners don't bother, they just pay the first price. The average price for a motorbike 100cc. is 3000. baht a month rental. A 250. baht a night room is usually 3 to 4 thousand a month. |

Good info on the motorbikes, but I know I won't be staying in any 250 baht a-night rooms. |
