|
|
When I am looking at the available jobs on this website there is a lot of mention of qualifications, ie:
Cambridge CELTA
Trinity Colledge TESOL
TESL
PELT TESL
PELT TESOL
et cetera
Please someone! I understand the basic principle of these things. That they are a basic course to set some basic standards for teaching English as a second language.
But:
- What is the difference?
- Is there a difference?
- Is one better than the other?
- Is there any real difference between a Certificate and a Diploma?
- If I am only intending to teach English for a year or two should I even bother with a course?
- Does having one of these realistically increase employment chances / conditions / standards?
- Is this worth the US$1500 - US$2000 they try to charge?
Or
- Is this "qualification" simply hot air?
Does anyone know?
Can anyone give an honest response?
Your comments and experienced opinions would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you (in advance)

Unless you need a rolls royce TESOL, try Asian eFL Journal TEFL certificate. It's free except for some small book charges. Make sure though that a qualified person is correcting your assignments at all times then you'll be right. |
