Are you making arrangments, or simply playing armchair PM?

Voting by Canadians Away from Their Electoral Districts –
Registration Form and Guide for Special Ballot
Elections Canada: 39th General Election: Important Information for the 39th General Election: Voting by Canadians Away from Their Electoral Districts – Registration Form and Guide for Special Ballot
Voter eligibility criteria
To vote, you must be a Canadian citizen and be 18 years of age or older on polling day.
You may register to vote by special ballot using the form in this guide provided:
1. your primary residence is in Canada but you expect to be outside your electoral district, either in Canada or elsewhere, on polling day and during the advance polls at an election or referendum; or
2. your primary residence has been outside Canada for less than five consecutive years since your last return to Canada (some exceptions apply), you resided in Canada at any time before applying for registration, and you intend to resume residence in Canada.
Do not use the form in this guide if:
* You are at your permanent residence in Canada and wish to vote by special ballot. Instead, click here.
* You are a member of the Canadian Forces. Instead, click here.
How to get your special ballot
Complete the registration form included with this guide and attach photocopies of proof of your identity (see examples for resident Canadians, or for non-resident Canadians). Return the form and supporting documentation to Elections Canada, using the quickest possible delivery method.
It's up to you!
It's your responsibility to send in your registration form and then your ballot on time. The registration form must reach Elections Canada in Ottawa by 6:00 p.m. on January 17, 2006, the Tuesday before polling day. The earlier you send it, the better. You can also deliver it in person by the same deadline to the office of the returning officer in any electoral district.
Your registration will be promptly processed, but you must allow enough time for a special ballot voting kit to reach you and for your ballot to travel back to Ottawa. The completed ballot must arrive at Elections Canada by 6:00 p.m., Ottawa time, on polling day, January 23, 2006. By law, late ballots cannot be counted.
