Hey folks,
Does anyone know how one would go about getting an international driver's license in Korea, or if it's even possible? I don't mean a Korean license either, I mean international. I'll be joining my brother in Japan for a road trip, and I'd like to be able to pitch in on the driving duties. Anyone got any info? |

What you need is an IDP (International Drivers Permit). If a website/company is calling it an "International Driver's License" they are probably scamming you.

Yes you can get one from the Korean DMV provided you already have a Korean driver's licence.
I don't know if it's still a requirement, but I had to get a paper from immigration stating I had been resident for so many months (I believe at the time you had to be a resident for a minimum 2&1/2 years before they would issue you one). The one I got was almost identical to the one I got in Canada years before. |
