Sailing and Scuba Trip in Thailand!!

Diving trip on a sailboat to the Andaman Sea (off the coast of Thailand) from 4 Feb 2006 till 11 Feb 2006. (8 days and 7 nights).
The pick-up and drop-off point is Phuket, Thailand.
This trip costs 790 Euro per person (approximately 950,000 won).
The only other costs will be 30 Euro (approximately 36,000 won) for entering the Marine National Park and for beers.
Food, water etc is included.

For the no experience divers: They need to come 2 days before so we can do the theory and confined session before going on the boat. The whole Open Water course is only 120 Euro (approximately 145,000 won).

Scuba diving is the main adventure of your trip, however there are many other activities to offer above and below the water like:

Sailing.
With 4 big sails, you can catch some wind and glide effortlessly across the tropical waters. They will show you how to raise and lower the sails and will also show you how to control the yacht using traditional and modern navigational methods. You can sit in the captains chair and take control of the wheel to guide us from one tropical island to the next and become skipper of your very own sailing yacht for the day.

Free Diving.
Free diving is the graceful art of diving without extra air or Scuba apparatus, using only the air in your lungs – it is the nearest sensation to being a fish! Two qualified free diving instructors are ready and waiting to take you into the blue. They will teach you deep breathing and relaxation techniques so you can stay longer under the water.

Kayaking.
They have their own fleet of fibre glass sea kayaks along with each trip so you can pump those biceps and explore hidden coves and secret bays around the islands.

Fishing.
Fishing within the enclosures of the marine park is off limits, however when you venture out of the marine park territory, you can throw out the lines and try to catch some fish. The most popular fish is tuna and barracuda. Ying, the cook can make the best sushi or even steaks, which can be cooked on the BBQ!

Snorkelling is a great way to watch underwater marine life from the surface. They have lots of snorkelling gear anytime you want to grab a mask, snorkel, fins and jump into the sea.

The dive sites:
Similan Islands, Surin Islands, Elephant Head, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Fantasea Reef, Richelieu Rocks, East of Eden, Anita's reef, Boulder City, Breakfast Bend, Shark Fin Reef, Turtle Edge, Swift Passage
Getting to Thailand is not included, it is the responsibility of the guest, airfare is not included.

Included is:
Dive guides, dive equipment, accommodation, all meals, basic drinks (coffee, tea and water) and optional activities such as sailing, kayaking, fishing and snorkeling. If you especially love a particular dive site, they are happy to offer flexibility. They can also make sure that you have the dive sites to yourselves or even if guests wish to jump off onto one of the secluded beaches for longer. After all, they would like to make their guests happy.

There is much more on the trips than just diving! The crew is excellent and they have many years of experience. They want your trip to be the holiday of a lifetime and I garantee quality for your money.

This sounded really cool in every way but for the possibility that you might be sharing every dive with inexperienced divers.

... so you are thinking about returning to Asia from your cushy perch in Canada!

... or just giving your two-cents worth...

I'll leave it for you to decide, just keep me posted.
Cool

Seriously though- diving with uncertified newbies on an extended voyage? Recipe for trouble.

I am actually a relative newbie myself. I did the open water and advanced open water last year in Koh Tao. Just to keep it up to date, this idea was suggested to me by my diving instructor. The deal for me was if I could find ten people interested and willing to go it would be free for me. So far only one person sent a text and it was very vague. I was really busy and didn't really promote it other than a few message boards. I didn't do anything in the newspaper. So unless there is a huge wave of interest it might not happen at all. I am just in the process of switching contracts and might need to put key money down for my own place so will not likely go if I don't have the free ride. If anyone is interested in still trying to go on a trip regardless of whether or not I go I could give you my diving instructor's email. Then if you have a group of ten or so who are all fairly experienced you could have the boat to yourself. Just email me [email protected] and I will put you in touch. All I ask is that if you do email him perhaps let him know who sent you (former student Trevor, he should recognize my email) so that maybe in the future sometime later I might still get a trip out of it.
