I want to put in a good word for Maltese. They are fantastic. Will have Maltese for the rest of my life. Don't shed, are super smart, extremely affectionate, look cute naked or dressed up....bad thing? They are little traitors....they love everyone.

If price doesn't matter, get a vizsla. They have short, rust-color hair. Most are medium-sized, but there are some smaller ones. They are very intelligent and usually have the personality of a naughty three-year-old human ...

Oh, yeah...I forgot about that: they don't shed and they don't stink. Actually, I just bathed my older dog a couple of days ago after I realized that it had been around two MONTHS since his previous bath. He had no smell. He does now...he smells like shampoo. Very Happy On him, that'll last weeks. The little one likes to get down and dirty, so she requires weekly bathing.

Also, they are not yappy dogs if trained properly from the beginning. My neighbors used to think that I had the dogs' voice boxes removed until I told them otherwise. They have lots of energy for walks, but are equally happy snuggling and snoozing on the sofa.

Oh yeah, and you CAN cut their hair....they don't have to be long-haired frou frou dogs. Mine aren't.
