The Transformers cartoons certainly made it worth a 1 and a half hour bus ride and half mile walk to my house everyday after school. Optimus Prime was by far the best of the lot and I nearly puked when I saw that horrible movie where he got blown away. The sound track alone was so bad it was enough to induce convulsions. I lost interest in the Transformers after that due not doubt to puberty and my 'rising' interest in girls.
However,
The sterotypical battles that raged on the yee olde boob tube everyday for a half an hour quite possibly educated me more about right and wrong than my parents ever did. Nothing at all like the garbage being spewed out today on cartoons, back then I remember a half decent moral message of sorts.
Good Versus Evil....
OR...
My sole reason for not going into rocket science was inspired in the disasterous results of the infamous Wiley E. Coyote and his highly experimental ACME rocket test launches in pursuit of the Road Runner. |

The movie wasn't perfect but that was still one of the best hero scenes in any movie, and the fact that Optimus did die made it even more memorable. It was hard to take for a child though, who was always used to seeing the Transformers simply being fixed in every episode leading up to the movie. In any case, all was well when he returned later on and finished off the series on a good note. |

Off-topic, I suppose, but anything from Sid & Marty Krofft was fun.
H.R. Pufnstuf, Sigmond, Bugaloos, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.
OK. One bomb. At least they were easy on the eyes. |
