Both CTV and CBC are projecting that it will be a minority Conservative Government. As it stands right now at 11:13 Eastern Time, the seat count looks like this

Conservative: 122
Liberal: 102
Bloc: 50
NDP: 31
Ind: 1

What does everyone think? I guess we already knew that it was going to look like this, though the seat count for the conservatives is much lower than what the polls were saying a couple of days ago.

32,000 votes counted so far in the riding of Ottawa-Orleans, and there is a 10 vote difference right now...

Paul Martin never had the character of a leader.

He grimaced too much, only really fit the profile of hardworking Finance Minister.

Now we get a Dan Quayle type.

I predict another election to be announced within two years.

I'd bet you'd say that. Bet also that you sign up right away for voting on gay marriage if we have a referendum.

Makes me sick that the Bloc and/or Communists (NDP) hold the balance of power

Here are the seat numbers at 12:50 a.m. Eastern Time. I think these will be pretty close to the final numbers..most of the polls have reported now.

Conservatives: 125
Liberals: 103
Bloc Quebecois: 51
NDP: 28
Independent: 1

Yep, and with those numbers once again the NDP doesn't hold the balance of power, the 155 seats they would need. Not even with that independent. Looks like the best way to run this parliament would be to hold a free vote on every bill and just do them one at a time. I don't think anyone wants another election for a while. Now it'll be impossible to say that Harper is a scary unknown and the Liberal Party will be looking for a new leader. Only the NDP has more space to go up, I think.

If Harper does well this term, a majority is possible in the next election. He made a breakthrough in Ontario and Quebec, two provinces where he had to. So now he has his foot in the door. If he can avoid any mishaps or scandals he will be well-placed to gain more seats in both provinces. It's a good start.

I'm amazed with his gains in Quebec and Ontario. Kudos to him.

Although I like the guy and think he is a great orator, I'd like to point a big middle finger up to Duceppe for not reaching his 50% of the votes.

Watching the speech right now and there was Preston Manning with the biggest grin I've ever seen on his face. Now that I think about it since I don't live in Canada anymore and only go there every once in a while, a reduction in GST is the only tax that would have an effect on me.
