I have noticed something.

The chief apologists of this board seem to have visas other than E-2s -- meaning they are either married to a Korean (and entitled to more rights because of this), hold working visas other than an E-2s (no, I'm not talking about you, J-Guru), or are Korean/Gyopos.

It's easy to be an apologist when you enjoy more rights based on your status.

You asked the same thing before, and were provided with a definition.

You aren't on an E-2, are you?

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=apologist

apologist ( P ) Pronunciation Key (-pl-jst)
n.
A person who argues in defense or justification of something, such as a doctrine, policy, or institution.

_________

In this case, an apologist would be arguing in defense of Dae-Ha-Min-Guk at every possible opportunity. Typical responses by such posters are generally accompanied by the statement, "Why don't you just go home?"

Being an "apologist" is dependant only upon if other's opinions are in line with yours or not, yes?

So, first we should poll everyone to see how they feel about everything....that will sort out the "apologists" from the...well...."non-apologists".

Or perhaps you are talking to someone else?

Can part-time "apologists" answer, or just full-timers?

If you disagree with me, are you the "apologist" or am I? Is the "apologist" the first poster opposing a given idea, or is it the first who thought of it that becomes/is made the "apologist"?

I mean, if you think kimchee is putrid and foul, and you thought that in say, 2001, yet I think kimchee is delicious and healthy and thought that in say, 1999, who is the "apologist"?

I prefer the synonym "justifier." While I certainly don't apologize for Koreans actions, explaining why they do something can help to understand them better.

Maybe you prefer to just preach to the choir.

No need to debate a foolish line of thought.

I see another non E-2 has entered the thread.

Oh, and Hapki... yet another.

Does anyone have anything intelligent to add?

And it's easier to be a baby about living here when you're only planning to stay for 12 months.

Maybe it's about numbers?

If everyone here thinks kimchee has no merits at all, yet I do, who is the "apologist"?

If the first person to ever find merit in kimchee an "apologist"? Even if that was long before anyone who found no merits was born, is the merit-finding guy still the "apologist"?

I mean, imagine Mr. Kim, sitting in his abode hundreds of years ago and found that fermenting cabbage was both nutritious and tasty. He introduces it to his neighbor 5 years later and the neighbor finds no merit in the fermented cabbage. Who is the "apologist" in the ensuing debate? What would the other person be then?

What is the opposite of an "apologist"?
