This is it. Beware of this, newbie, it in general depicts these forums.

A lot of expats are on their own for the longhaul, trying to show off. Let them lick spit. This is what you need, both for this forum, and for Korea.

"Avoid individuals who suck you energy and diminish your confidence. You know who they are: Steer clear of them. Hang out with people who see you at your best, and remind you about it every so often. Pessimists drag you down, as do whiners and critics."

In a nutshell, newbie, this is all and everything you'll have to face, both from the Koreans, and alas, this board, while you're there.

It's an attitude of teenagers, much like those they teach.

Your writing style is very different, but I totally agree with this point here (though I try to follow this advice everywhere, not just in Korea).

Damn, I was expecting something more dramatic, perhaps even Kubrick-esque; Something like "me suckee you energy long time, newbie".

Is an "attitude of teenagers" something like a murder of crows?

Yeah, that's what I thought this thread was going to be about.

Maybe he (and "laogaiguk") are referring to this song by the Who:

Out here in the fields
I fought for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven

Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland

Sally ,take my hand
We'll travel south crossland
Put out the fire
Don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
So let's get together
Before we get much older

Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh..yeah
Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted

The OP's fairly correct anyway.
The cavalcade of armchair critics, spiteful little insects, bloated semi-pseudo intellectuals, self- opinionated, arrogant twerps, and negative, unoriginal, puffed up, poncey, pathetic, whining, wearisome, know-alls, that fill the male expat korean community..and excel at infecting the internet from their miserable keyboards.. exemplified on these obnoxious forums...

....IS ASTOUNDING!!!

And you were doing so well up to "exemplified" and then you sadly missed the mark. Here I'll help you. After "exemplified" you should have said "by Rapier" And that would have been all that needed to be said.

Next time, leave us out of your projections please.

Sociologically, I think a common denominator that sees a strange alliance among "alpha-epsilon", "laogaiguk" and "rapier" is that they are probably all "Generation X"ers... They tend to be envious of the preceding baby-boomer generation's claims to having better cultural (eg: Beatles, etc...) and educational experiences, and are resentful of having to pay for some of the excesses of the preceding generations...

"Generation X grew up during the end of the cold war and the Ronald Reagan/Margaret Thatcher/Mikhail Gorbachev eras but as they transitioned into adulthood watched the Soviet Union collapse and America become the only superpower. As Gen X transitions into parenthood, they've compared the Boomer media and college professor versions of history with their own concurring or differing perceptions..."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generation_X
(Of course, there are many more "generation X"ers on these forums that are always eager to express disdain for older posters (eg: "beaver" et al)
