So Mayor Nagin is a racist *beep*. Maybe not - well he is but he says he is just doing what god wants so he has a plausible excuse. Well, no. Mayor Nagin is a certifiable nut bag. End of discussion.

Quote:
"It's time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be
a chocolate New Orleans. And I don't care what people are
saying in Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be
chocolate at the end of the day. This city will be a majority
African-American city. It's the way God wants
it to be. You can't have it no other way."
New Orleans Mayor - C. Ray Nagin

-until it gets washed away again.

they will have to restore natural sea defences before the city is worth investing a future in. At the moment the coastline is dissapearing into the sea rapidly, due to degradation and alteration of waterways and swampland.

I can't see the US govt ploughing a fortune into building up a massive seawall when the very ground it sits on is sinking by 20cm per year.

before they channelled and barricaded the Missispi, the land area was actualy growing, not so now.

Considering that New Orleans will most likely be washed away yet again shouldnt it be renamed:

The city 'in' the bay? Laughing

I also wonder about the mayor....could his speech be translated as:

"the white folks aint coming back!" Wink

Here's the funny part, to me...

Really? Is that why God sent one major hurricane to wipe the city from the planet? Then, another?

Sounds like God is really watching out for New Orleans... Wink

So why isn't he being labeled a racist instead of a nut job? I'd love for a predominantly white city to make the same statement! We'd be called every derogatory name in the book and then the person that made the statement would be booted out. I hate double standards Evil or Very Mad

If there is a god or gods do you think it-them really want(s) the majority of prominent political figures both in the US and the rest of the world to be religious nutcases?

There are religious nuts everywhere but they seem particularly attracted to politics and frankly that scares me.

If there is a god then I'm glad that taking its name in vain is seen as a sin by most religious groups.

Woo hoo! All the religious politicians are going to hell, where they most surely deserve to end up.

90% of politicians and 75% of religious folks make me sick.
