Any contacts for hair stylists who are good with African American hair? I'm a female going to Geochang, Gyeongnam.
Thanks! |

There is a hair shop run by Africans, located in Itaewon. It is often busy with Nigerians, and black (some white) people of many nationalities. They can do a lot of special styles for African hair (braids, etc.). It is on the lower street of Hooker Hill, not far from Geckos. Sorry that's not close to where you mentioned, but there is one in Itaewon, Seoul, anyway. You could backpack it to Seoul once per month and get your hair cut. Gives you a reason to visit Seoul. |

That would be the best bet and there are some really good shops in Haebangchon too in the "Little Lagos" area (no joking, that is what I hear the Nigerians call it now) |

Saw an ad. at the subway for an English-speaking hair salon, presumably owned by foreigners, as it featured 2 anaemic looking bleary-eyed weyguks, one of them bald as a coot.
So if you're after someone to groom the last strands trailing off your dome, then seek it out. |

I'm trying to keep my hair by not going bald doing it myself.... So, I don't know about this suggestion. But who knows! THANKS! |

Good call. I went to the Euna BNC salon or whatever it's called near Ewha Women's Univ and they MELTED MY HAIR OFF. Literally. I ended up with a friggin pixie cut because it all fell off.
Also had me pay 195,000 won for it and blamed it all on my hairdresser back home in Canada.
I'm back to cutting, bleaching and toning my own hair again now. My hairdresser in Canada was kind enough to send me out my bleach and toner.
Gahh what an awful, awful experience... |

It kind of looks like that lady's hair in the video, "Come on Eileen."
But it looks kind of cool. |

Seoul is a long way to go if you are down in Gyeongnam. I'd suggest checking Daegu or Busan as there are often stylists who specialize in what you are looking for around the bases. |

in Daegu (Camp Walker)
in Busan (Camp Hialeah)
Outside Cp. Walker's main gate, there used to be a hair/nails shop (pro nails or something like that). Haven't lived down there in four years now, so I can't guarantee if it's still around. |
