You need to get to the embassy the FIRST thing in the morning. Or you'll be in line waiting for hours. And hours. And hours. Once you hand in your application, they tell you to come back in a few days and pick it up. No one day service. It's a busy place with hundreds of applications everyday.
You can't bring your backpack/suitcase/or whatever up stairs until it's searched by security, so...
It's a MAD house the korean embassy in Manila.
We got at the place at 9am and still had to wait until the afternoon before we were seen.
You just can't walk into the building. The embassy is located on the upper floor of a business building housing other businesses, coffee shops, etc. Before the guards let you into the building, you are searched and then you have to sign in, leave your ID and then go up stairs.

I think it might depend on where you're from, too. The day my husband went, there was a huge line out the door of the Korean embassy, winding down the hall. They were all Philippinos. When the embassy guard saw us, he took us right to the front and to the appropriate window. (the Philippinos were waiting for a different window)

We got there on a Friday, the visa was tentatively ready on Tuesday (the paper said no guarantee). We ended up picking it up the following Friday after spending a week on the beach.

I'm in Cebu now.. and had to go to the Korean consulate for unrelated reasons.

Apparently they don't do any kind of visa work whatsoever.. its all done in Manila.

On the plus side.. the Korean Consulate in Cebu happens to be located right in one of the buildings of a major university in Cebu. (Babe-galore).

Typically they tell you 3 or 4 business days.

When I went in there to process my visa (2 visas ago) I handed them everything and then they told me 4 days.

I said that I wanted to cancel the application because I had a ticket to Hong Kong for that night and needed my passport back today so just cancel my request.

They asked me to prove my claim to be leaving the Philippines for another country (other than Korea) so I showed them the ticket to HK. After I did they processed me in about 30 minutes.

The usual wait is 4 days... but it can be done faster in exceptional circumstances.
