has anyone else been there? (mods, if there's a prior thread on this please feel free to delete)
anyway i went for the first time today and it's really great! once i got over the 'oh my god!' factor of seeing shepherd's pie in seoul, i tucked in and i have to say it was pretty good. the owner is an aussie, and a nice guy too. i'm sure any aussies or brits who miss this kind of stuff from back home would love it.
it's on the other side of the road from california gym, and well worth a visit! |

umm well as an Aussie myself I must say the pies were not that good!
first they are served warm! not HOT!! the pastry is soft and breaks apart soon as you bite into it.. they are over priced at 4800 a pie!!
thats more than a big mac set! and any meal pretty much..
so you fdont even get a drink with it!! but hey the money is not thje problem.. its the quality.. im not saying that they sucked! but they were not good!! and I doubt I will be back.. they have no idea how to run to pie bakery.. when I went in there the workers couldnt speak a LICK of English
all koreans.. which one was the aussie? becuase there didnt seem to be one when I was there.. just 3 korean guys!
then.. when I asked in korean is everything available on the menu they said yes.. but when I chose 3 of the items on the menu they were not available.. so I finally got a couple pies.. and left...
I ate them,, and they were ok.. but they would not rank back home!
ask any kiwi or aussie.. one thing they hate is a luke warm pie that breaks soon as your pick it up and crumbles when you bite into it!
no flakey pastry and no real taste in the mince!
but hey , this is korea.. so if you want a pie fix! then go for it!! |

How much could you make them for and turn a profit in apgujong which would have to have some pretty high rental costs?
Look how much people pay for pizza here? 18,000 won+
I don't know if they are overpriced or not, but it seems every time the topic of non korean food comes up on this board people complain about the prices.. foreign foods are expensive, kind of sucks but thats life..
korean food costs 5 to 10 times more in western countries too! |

| Well, as a NZer I sure do miss meat pies. Have only been to the Bondi Pie Shop the once (because I don't live anywhere near Seoul). Yes, it was pricey, but in my opinion worth it. They are the only pies I've seen in Korea, and they tasted great. |

When you say Shephed's Pie. Do you mean minced beef covered with fluffy mashed potato? MMMMMMMMM |

Yeah its good but in my book Schwing beats it, and they're well close to each other 
I was impressed tho, and 2 quid isnt a lot when it comes to a capital city and a good meal. |

yep exactly... back home you'd be like 'that's damn expensive' but we're in korea now... and apgujong too. besides, 4 or 5,000 won for a taste of home is worth it.
also as someone who would like to open a business here one day (most likely not a pie shop though:) ) its good to see a fellow foreigner having a go. |

Just wandering where abouts in Apurjeong is this meat pie shop because i am an Aussie and would like to go there please , if you have a map it would be better . thankyou  |

its right across the road from california fitness.. Hapjeong intersection,
just ask around for cali fitness.. then you cant miss it..
around the corner from the hard rock cafe..
yeah I mean the prices are not the problem.. just saying the quality could be alittle better and the pies could be better in variety...
anyway maybe I went on a not so good day..
I might try it again on saturday seeing that I am in the hood.. |

| There is a lady here that imports REAL Aussie meat pies, made in Australia, all different flavours and also sausage rolls, party size also available. Get in contact with ANZA. You have to buy in bulk ( 24 pies in a carton) I think 60,000 ++. |

Just adding my verdict on Bondi pies. Not bad. Could be bigger with a lot more gravy in them.
The British-style meat pie has chunks of meat and veg swimming in gravy. Bondi's pies were a little dry and the filling too smooth and processed for my taste.
Plus, they didn't have Steak and Kidney when I was there!!! I was shattered!!
A decent pie though. Good enough pastry. |

WTF.... How do I meet this wonderful woman who can get me a tray of pies. Does she walk on water as well???
If anyone can send me her contact details that would be great....
