Anybody know of any good "quit smoking " products in Korea...I bought some "Nico Stop" patches and they seemed to work but they burned into my arm and I looked like I had been branded!

Was Nico stop the brand name? My friend bought nicoderm- the same kind they have in Canada, yesterday near Shillim station. These ones come in 3 strengths, so if they are the same, maybe you could try one of the weaker strengths.

pm me if you need more details, and good luck!

are nicoderm those patches which come in a white box with a coloured stripe? i didn't look at the name, but used these patches. the most potent box is red, next is blue, last is green. the pharmacist guy indicated to put them on your chest, around the heart. lost alot of chest hairs playing with those things. tip; buy the red stripe potent box and cut the strips into smaller strips. if you buy the weak, green stripe box of strips it's more expensive than cutting up 'custom' size strips out of a hefty, economy-size red box. live long and prosper (you can buy nicotene gum at the namdemun foreign goods market, if you prefer)

If you're having trouble with finding decent patches or gums, you might want to try the very cheap and easy-to-find alternative Bacchus energy drink. It's about 400 won, in every convenient store and drugstore, and one bottle has about as much nicotine as a pack of cigarettes.

I never tried it to quit smoking in Korea myself, but it's an idea.

BTW I still can't believe this stuff is legal and available over the counter. Is there anything stopping this from being sold to kids?

People always seem surprised when I tell them this, but take a look at the Bacchus label. It says 20 mg of nicotine (in hangeul, but it's the same word), and a cigarette usually has about a milligram of nicotine (give or take depending on the brand (here's the nicotine calculator for Phillip Morris: http://www.philipmorrisusa.com/our_products/tar_nicotine/tar_nicotine_numbers.asp)).

If you think my Bacchus plan is a good idea, wait until you see this: http://www.theonion.com/onion3325/nicarest.html.

As I mentioned in another post, I couldn't bring myself to quit in Korea. Cheap smokes, lots of drinking, and a cornocopia of stress? Forget about it. I did it between contracts in the U.S. of A, drastic/gradual cessation of 2-5 cigarettes a day, then BAM! nothing at all. It's been six months and counting six months and counting since I've had a smoke, and getting easier every day.

Good luck to anyone who pulls it off in Korea. I'd have beaten a student, I swear.

I managed to stop smoking in Korea. I quit the 2nd day on the job, because I figured I'd die in Korea if I didn't stop smoking. The withdrawl symptoms were interesting. What made it easier to stop smoking is that I'd quit drinking before coming to Korea.

Just keep in mind that if you keep smoking that $$$ "State sanctioned" $$$ CANCEROUS sh*T you're GONNA DIE !!!

After 15 years it worked for me. Cold turkey baby.

Having said this, i am looking forward to returning to CANADA where ( instead of swilling crappy 100% chemical soju ) a guy can more freely partake in some of nature's finest Wink

Sorry to bust your bubble, but the actual ingredient is Nicotinamide, which is basically Niacin, or Vitamin B3. It usually gives people a bit of a rush.

It's called ƾƹ̵ in Korean

You should NOT cut up the stronger strength patches to make weaker patches. Those things are designed to administer a certain dose through the skin. If you cut it up, the nicotine evaporates into the air through the sides. It says so right on the patches back home. Also, you should change where you put the patch every day (not the same place). I found if I put one on my arm it would really hurt, so I always put them somewhere on the torso. It's not necessary (or even a really good idea I would imagine) to put one over your heart. You have to put them somewhere where there is no hair.

I liked the gum way better than the patch. So you can take a hit when you want and not just have it slowly come in. The gum has been available in the drugstores for a bit now.

Just quit ya pansies....no amount of drugs will supplant sheer willpower....I tossed em a month and a half ago after seven years....and aside from the first day or two have not looked back....some may argue that I have not really quit after a month and a half but I have, they're gone....in the past....the timing has gotta be right!!
