I recently downloaded some PS2 torrents and then tried to durn them as image files with Alcohol 120%. Yet with the four games that I have tried all of them load up on the PS2, you see the playstation logo and then when the game loads the screen just rolls and will not stop. Does anyone know what exactly I am doing wrong or has any suggestions for me. I am dying to play the new Need for Speed and would really appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance,
JB

You have your PS2 chipped, right?

Also, d/l US not PAL(unless it has a selector - which is usu a bit of a pain to get working)...if your screen is a flickering blue one after the load, it's probably a PAL verson of the game.

It sounds like you downloaded the PAL version of the games that you wanted. This works only on PAL televisions (e.g. European tvs) and therefore you are screwed. Try downloading the NTSC version, this is the version that North America (and Korea) use so this is what you want.

There is a program that lets you convert PAL games to NTSC but I have heard it's very hit or miss so it's best just to go find and download the NTSC version. One other thing to note is that SOME games have a PAL/NTSC selector, one I played recently was Resident Evil 4 for the PS2, but these are not very common. Good luck.............

Yeah, what he said. Laughing Also, burn a little slow to ensure success.

I think you are probably right, the two games I still had on my computer were pal games so that might have been the problem. I just started downloading some NTSC ones and hopefully they will work.
and yes my PS2 is modded although I am pretty lost with most of this stuff I knew I needed a mod chip.

Thanks

Sounds like you're already doing fine. Common mistake I'm sure made by many. If you want a really sweet DVD burning program(freeware) go here:

http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/

...and d/l DVD Decrypter. Apparently, it's the last version of it that you'll find because the developers weren't getting enough donations. Anyway, it's great and no stupid cracks or registration or anything like that needed.

Yep it sounds like your t.v cant display PAL resolution.

PAL signal has more lines or resolution than the NTSC signal does. Thats why the TV starts rolling. But at least if u got that far your ISO's are o.k.

I was always patching PAL games to Ntsc myself using this:

http://www.geocities.com/jayteemaster2003/ps2_pal2ntsc_yfix_source.zip

It will patch most (99%) of games, and it has a Y fix which means it will try to centre the screen to make up for the lost lines of resolution. However, I couldn't patch CODEMASTERS games (WRC etc) so I was pissed

UNTILL I got a new tv with inputs for an rgb (scart) lead .It sorts out the prob so I can now play PAL games on my Korean TV without patching.

RGB is RED>GREEN>BLUE. It splits the signal to these colors. On the back of your Tv you need the inputs colored like that.

So, check the back of your tv and if you need to, get a newer one, or try JT's patcher. If you do go for RGB you will notice better resolution also.

Good luck!
