I made a post a couple days ago regarding my pension and how my boss was not paying into it, but neither was I. I asked her about it, and she gave me a bunch of lies, so I printed out the section from the National Pension Service website about how all foreigners are required to pay the pension. She also read the website. Today I talked to her father, who handles contract issues, and he told me that I could go to the office in Seongnam, near Yatap station myself and register. Is it possibel for me to do this by myself? Assuming I can do it myself, how long must I wait before I know that she has made those back payments of about 10 months? Is there anything else I should be aware of? Thanks~

Yes, be prepared to pay over 800,000 Won out of your own pocket. But like I said to you before, it will be worth it.

I can't believe they're giving you such a hassle. They're trying to make it very difficult for you, hoping you will give up. Usually it is the employer who does all this...as they are the ones who will have to deduct it off your pay cheque.

I would make it clear to the pension office that your employer is giving you such a hassle. Are you bringing a Korean for translation?

the assistant told me today to talk to the owners father to see when he can go with me to the pension office. when i asked him, he didn't seem to happy and told me that i can go myself because there are plenty of people who speak english there. the assistant told me that when the owner and father read the part about the pension being required, they said it was the first time they heard about that law. there was only 1 other foreign teacher before me, because the schools only been open for 1.5 years, but i doubt they didn't know about the pension. im going to bring my friend with me to try and get things sorted out at the pension office.
