Okay, that's what I thought, but it just seemed like you were talking about Laos. |

I will give you an example. I was walking down the street at night with my GF and the cabbie says, "Hey, you want a taxi?" Now, this was my first night there, and after being to Vietnam on my last trip, I thought 'Oh great, here comes a hassle.' So, I said, "no thanks we are just walking to the Petronas towers." He responds with, "ah.. yeah, just down the street there and go left." I say, "thank you." He says, "Have a good one."(I was surprised by the 'have a good one.') I think this is one thing the seperates Malaysia from other countries in SEA. They are honest, kind, and they don't try to rip you off. |
Interesting, I wonder in how many countries can you find Taxi drivers that speak English? I mean you can always find one somewhere but I am talking about at least 25% of the taxi drivers speaking English. In my experience not many. Furthermore we should eliminate the areas where taxi drivers who can speak English go to find sucks they can charge triple the average price. |

For me hands down it has been India and Nepal. The people are so lovely there and there is so much to see and do. You could literally spend 20 lifetimes in India and not see all there is to see.
I love the abandon and bursting life in Calcutta, the rainforest mountains of the Western Ghats with the coffee estates, the tea gardens of Darjeeling on the colonial Toy Train. The temples and the sadhus and the festivals of colours and lights.
Nepal is totally different. Life is harder there in the mountains as there is less food and less infrastructure. The people are so amazing there. So friendly, and the scenery is breathtaking. |
