HI there,

I used to get regular massages from Kim's oxygen massage in Itaewon, but they seem to have gone out of business. I'm female, and prefer to have a female masseuse with a certain amount of "western" style respect for privacy ie, towels covering etc....

Any suggestions? I have heard someone once had a bad experience with a male masseur at the turtle place above Burger KIng..anyone have any good experiences there?

Thanks!!

how come the woman at that burger king place didn't molest me then? Stupid double standards.

There's a spa place in Hongdae- they play new age music, have candles everywhere, and do massages (for women only). I don't know what the policy is on being naked, but it's a very nice place.

It's down one of the alleyways on the street leading past the park- I think opposite a hip-hop club called "The Hole"

Thanks for all the info - because I really wanted to get a massage tomorrow, I booked one at Nokgu ( turtle place) and requested a female. ( They quoted 60,000 for 60 minutes). The place in Hongdae, I will check out for next time.

Thanks so much

hmm i normally go to a place in gwangnaru...sports massage for 40,000 won for an hour (sometimes longer)

but then again i pay for a taxi home instead of sitting (or standing) on a crowded subway, as well as a 5,000 won fee for the sauna...so it's probably about the same as getting a 60,000 won massage closer

I went to the itaewon place once for a facial that one of my buddies talked me into getting. It for the most part felt like they were scrubbing my face with a brillo pad. Despite the torture I still managed to fall asleep and was later told by my buddy that he heard my snores interupting the ladies complaining for me to relax more and what not. Seriously she did wake me up at one point but I think that is when she hit me with something that felt like a hammer.

How do you say "Happy Ending" in Korean?

Has anyone seen the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode when Larry's masseuse asks if he wants her to "finish him off"? He says "yeah" not knowing what she means... priceless.

I had a really good foot massage from a guy at Hue Esthetic. I realize that this isn't quite what you asked about, but sometimes if one service is good the others will be also. They do full-body and I think they have male & female technicians. It is in the same building with the Intl Clinic, on the first floor.

Well, I do appreciate hearing about the other options - I went to the turtle place today, and although everything was handled very professionally, I felt that the massage was just a little too "Korean" - meaning a little too rough, tough and jerky. I go to relax, not to have my muscles pulverized. I like a little balance between my pleasure and pain Very Happy

Although I could be more specific about the type of massage I'd like, and am willing to give Nokgu another chance, I think I'll try another one of the suggestions next time.

Thanks!

I would love to have been a fly on the wall during that conversation.
