I used to post a post now and again on the other forum before our current furum with moderators here on Dave's started. Even at that stage a lot of the content on the other board used to knock this board. They would have only had about 50 people using the other board as maxium hits were around 30 on a site. We had a chap called James about then and about 70% of the posts on KoreaESL used to be from him.
Anyone can go to the other site and see what a unmoderated site is like. I think you will be back here quick smart.

You're almost right... but we go for duck and cover rather than Stop, drop and roll |

Exactly. If I wanted to act like a 10-year old who has learned his first swear words I'd be a regular on most usenet groups. I'm quite happy with the moderating here.

Talking of the OTHER board, I checked it out, much prefer a moderated board- anything else is just anarchic, in your face, swearwords. |

Having visited your site and the koreanesl site, that comment sounds strange coming from you Beckerson. Don't tell me you actually "moderate". |

Well, I try not to moderate because I know that most people can act like civilized humans if they want to. Not to mention that I have the luxury of being able to abuse any post/ account someone makes there. I wouldnt do that normally, but these were special circumstances.
He came in, started flaming everyone, then threatened to troll, and spam the board if anyone deleted / banned him. My host, and co-Site Admin banned him, so...
He even announced on KoreanESL that he'd bring me to my knees. Yelling about proxies and how unstoppable he was, he, with his "army" of Shinson Maan and... Shinson's stealing people's login names... they proceeded to try and destroy me.
It didnt work.
If he had acted like a decent person and didnt start calling everyone "fags", I would have been content to let it go, but he threw the challenge down, and I had to respond.
I just held out the olive branch to him, and if he agrees and doesnt try that crap again, I may go back to the sleepy messageboard of old.
And the sad part that the board I have isnt about ESL anyway. It's for me to get feedback on my comics, post my blog, and to keep touch with my friends back home.
But on the up side: He did give me the great idea of having a forum where everyone is a mod. So if you want to be a mod, go on over and PM me when you get there. |

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of WWF on AFN. They were in Halifax!
I don't know squat about WWF and the rest of it. Is that common? Is Halifax one of the wrestling centers?
Please excuse my WWF ignorance.
Now that you mentioned- what? armholds?.haha.well, what about it and Hali? |

Nova Scotia has a long and rich history of wrestling long before the WWF was a gleam in Vince Sr's eye. I remember Grand Prix wretsling on my TV every saturday night. Afterwards me and my cousin would argue over who was stronger.
Andre the Giant wreslted there for a few months, as did Edge for a while. The Rock's father, Soul Man Rocky Johnson, is from Halifax. Thankfully, the Rock is not stupid enough to want and discover his roots and never visits because the mayor would be bothering him for head-lock photo ops every five seconds.
Halifax is a great wrestling town, but WWE tends not to go there because we cheer the Canuck wreslters like Jericho who are supposed to be booed and we boo the dull pieces of crap like Kevin Nash, who are supposed to be heros.
My friends went and they told me they were behind Nash until he tossed Jericho out of the ring. Silly boys. |

I remember as a kid my dad and I watching Bruno Samartino and Chief Jay Strongbow on the UHF channel in New York.
I loved it!
Great stuff!
Never made a connection with NS but it's good to hear you guys have some of the same insanity.
Yes, Andre the Giant, he was very active. I remember going to his table in one of the wrap around corridors of Madison Square Garden when I was about 8 years old. He gave me his finger ring and I could fit three of my fingers into his ring.
I couldn't stop talking about it. |

They were both past users who basically dont know how to act like decent people and so they got banned for their efforts. Their basic handles are Big Bill and Shinshon Maaaan. Like most retards, they figure that it's the mod's fault that they're retards and decided that an anti ESLCafe Jihad would consume the rest of their days.
If you go over to KoreanESL.com, you'll see them trolling that board. If you see anything there from a username here that seems ...out of character, that's Shinson Maaan stealing someone's web ID. Since the webmaster over there is desperate for hits, he always turns a blind eye to this sort of activity.
They took to using public proxy servers to register/login since their original IPs are banned. If you know more good ways to shame them, feel free to PM me about it. Big Bill seems to have stopped for now and I'm content to ignore him, but Shinson Maaan keeps posting on my board about his deep need for his sister.
Here are my mods so far.
