I can re-sign with my current hagwon for 2.3 million. I get the pension so it's really 2.4. I get 400,000 OT/month and at least 1 million a month extra in January and August. I always get paid on time. Hours are 2 to 9.

The other option is the CDI thing where you get 30,000/hr.

My job is pretty much dead easy, but I live in the country somewhat.

Don't see how that helps me. Or, for that matter, anyone else.

In the end, it's your choice. CDI? Hmm. Good hours(?) and money(with the no housing option?), but what else? Vacation? Are you sure that CDI will hire you? I think you're better off where you are...

The might expect you to "prepare" for your classes at CDI.

Very Happy

There was an interesting thread about CDI on here a while back with all kinds of comments both negative and positive. Personally I wouldn't work for them. You'll have to work some weekends and I heard that teachers get scammed on accommodation and other such things though don't take my word for it. Do a search and ask around.
Sounds like your current job is pretty good though. Can't complain with 2.3

2.3 at a job you like is worth keeping if the hours are good and it's only 5 days a week. There are so many variables when you take on a new job.

Yeah, but it's such a low salary. I make more with OT, etc., but I think I'm selling myself short. Maybe I'll do some searching and hunting around and find something. I'll sign on again for another year, but if I find something, I'll just get out of this one. I have to work a lot of time to get 2.8 to 3.6 at this job. Maybe not worth it when I can make the same, or much more, working regular hours, like 6 to 7 hours/day, somewhere else.

Do you always get OT or do you have to ask for it?

The OT fluctuates. I don't ask for it. It's an option. I choose to do it though. My contracted schedule is 2 to 9. The last classes (middle school) finish at 9:30. Last month I was teaching straight though from 2 to 9:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays and 2 to 9 on Fridays. That gave me 5 hrs/wk OT. I was teaching a student M/W/F from 2 to 2:30 and my boss counted it as OT. So I got 2 hours on each of those days. With changes, winter vacation and some cancels, it worked out to 370,000 for the month at the hagwon and another 1 million for teaching at LG for 9 days (4 hrs/day).

Now I'm getting 3 hours/wk. So, about 300,000 month. Maybe more though because that 2 to 2:30 student was late on Wednesday and he told me that he is indeed coming at 1:50 on Friday. So, maybe it's 4.5 hrs/wk or something a little over or a little under 400,000.

In short, it fluctates.

I think you got a good thing going. Why screw it up with CDI. I know people that like CDI and people that don't.

Bottom line, money aside, if you like your job keep it.

Well, that's what I'm doing for now. Haven't signed the contract. Haven't seen the contract. Friday's the 10th. New contract's the begining of next month. He's doing the old "make him sign last minute" so he can try to get away with some clauses. I want to look at it. He knows this.
