Hello,
If you agree to extending a contract...should the month bonus
be paid to you at the end of original contract expiration
or do employers expect to pay that at the end of the extension(in my case an additional 3 or 4 months)?.
thanks for any info-
william

Usually, at the end of the original contract.

...Z is right.

I'd just like to add that most employers here do not pro-rata severances, so please get that written if you want to receive it...

It's up to you and your employer to negotiate that.

Its in your better interest to wait to get it at the end of your extention (unless you need the money now). The reason for this is that under Korean Labor Law if you get paid your severance at the end of your original end of contract date and not the end of your extension, youre not entitled to a pro-rated severance.

If you wait till the end of your extention date to get your severance, your employer is legally obligated to pay you your one year severance and a pro-rated severance for how ever long you continue working for him/her.
