One of the PC bangs near my apartment has a special junior floor, no smoking allowed. Haven't been in there myself though, just saw the notice at the entrance. |

but I doubt it when the people who pass down the laws are the ones who are addicted to drugs as nicotine!! |
This is pretty much my experience as well. These days I only go to a PC bang when our internet is down on the weekends. They're always full of kids and old men. Not exactly "old", but early-retired/unemployed age. And yes, they're nearly all human chimneys. I don't think PC bangs here would dare enforce the no-smoking rule -- they can't afford to lose so sizeable and loyal a segment of their customer base. And they can't afford to (or would sooner close up shop than have to) build booths or dividers for smokers. |

No need to make anything up...you certainly keep abreast in that area....any more lies you would like to tell about me? |
Try as I might, I just can't top the true story that you provide us with. You show up here with a bought degree someone drew in crayon and tell us all to great lengths about your use of photography in the classroom as a both a weapon to force complicity and for personal amusement is hard to top. What could I add?

A long time ago the ego actually had some relevant posts....now all he has is pathetic router comments ....actually his router claims are about the only thing he has to comment on....his claims about taxes have been proven wrong time and time again....oh wait a minute!!! didnt he school me in that nope...he was proven wrong yet again government websites back me up on that. |
Would that be the time you said that you could save money on your taxes by claiming false deductions, or when you said that the monthly withholding was representative of one's total tax liability?
Do we really need to see the link again to the super-rant you gave that ended with with you saying one thing right, a few personal opinions of no value, and a huge stack of nothing but errors?

I find it sad that such a little man has such a pathological need to belittle other people....in order to what??? make himself feel better about himself? Oh wait....the ego makes 150% return on his investments...makes multi million won per month...appears in imaginary magazines and is published yet is still in Korea playing Dungeons and Dragons with his loser buddies in a vain(and pathetic) attempt to hand on to the days of yore |
I cast Mordenkaiden's Faithful Watchdog and then I attack the darkness! Or you do that. Jesus, whose turn is it? Stop flailing around and hit me if you are going to hit me. Enough with the dancing as all you ever do is tease me and it never goes anywhere interesting.

Nowdays gord simply relies on pathetic namecalling, libelous comments and outright lies......sad really. BUT HEY he is the king of sitting in his apt and playing his kickass gaming system....which would be cool.....if he was still 16 years old still.....not so cool if he is the adult he claims to be |
You got me. I am a sad, lonely man that weighs so much that if it weren't for the mouse and keyboard I used, I would get no exercise at all.
Though I haven't really played games for more than a few minutes with company in years and haven't used my desktop in months. StarCraft just can't be played with a Wacom pen and the laptop isn't set for gaming in general. But hey, whatever, just hook me up with some more pie. |

This is what a PC room desk should look like. Notice the space! The colours (desk glass is actually a dark blue)! The appeal. Someone should really sit down one day and build a place that looks like this.
You know what else are blue? Original PlayStation CDs. They look black, but are actually blue. If they were black, the laser would have been absorbed by the plastic and thus the foil could not have been read. Use blue, end up with a 75% market share, that's what I am saying! |

I should really feel honoured for the credit gord gives me. According to him my 'bought degree drawn with crayons' was so darn good it managed to fool Korean immigration not once, not twice but thrice And now its actually landed me a teaching job back in Canada.... maybe its because I did the legwork and hung around the U of A campus for those 4 years...yeah that must be it!
We could also pull up your posts on how the rain forests aren't the lungs of the world but thats water under the bridge.
Give it up gord......you dont like me....I dont like you.....thats fine.....you keep living in your fantasy world and i'll live in mine. |

And I am the King of Spain! I really am. I can't prove it, but trust me.

Zuh? Rain forests aren't the lungs of the world though it is a popular saying. Algae in the oceans overwhelmingly produce most of the lovely O2 you and I breath.

I don't like you? Horrible lies. I don't like how you make things up and claim them as fact and then tell people to run to the wall with it (I suspect you've never had to deal face-to-face with someone who has taken your advice and then been given a refusal towards getting a new work visa, though I've had to on occasion). Your photography fetish is a bit creepy which you probably shouldn't mention in public again.
Worse, you don't follow your own advice. You tell people to make large scenes by refusing to work, for example, but when your boss didn't have a place for you, you ended up living with him for a month at his place. You try to create an image that if they follow your advice then they will win when in reality your own advice has been untested by you and there is no mention of all the times it's failed when used by others.
I suspect if you keyed my truck or molested me when I was sleeping then I might hate you, but for now I feel sympathy towards you as a person because you are trying so hard to be something you're not: You want to be the smart guy who knows everything and the witty guy who can toss insults that make people laugh while they start to cry. Personally, I don't think those are plateaus you are going to reach, so I would suggest that you just stick with simple facts and clearly marked opinions coupled with anecdotal stories of what you did or thought you should have done.
And then pie can be had for all!

Then why were you the one to come out of nowhere and initiate the conflict with him in this thread? And then when things get too hot for you, you turn tail and edit out all of your comments in the earlier post and do this back-pedal/peace offering stuff?
If you're going to be an ass and ambush people out of the blue on this forum, then stand up and be a man and be prepared to see it all the way through, and not go back and edit out your past comments and offer half-assed olive branches while you scramble for the door. If you must run from the messes that you start, then try to at least show some respect for yourself and bow out with some class.
This is why people often treat you like a doormat. Don't expect things to change, while you are still doing stuff like this. |

Something even stranger... I've always been under the impression that Gord and Grotto were the same guy. I know Grotto would argue with just about anybody but I never expected to see him taking jabs at himself. |

Hmm. All the PC rooms I've been to were pretty nice. Up to date hardware, nice LCD screens, comfy chairs. The only problem is finding one that isn't smoked up or have terrible lighting. I'll agree with you that the food and drink suck. |
Back in the days before I got a computer at home, I spent some time in them. I think the worst thing has to be the smoke. Most have "smoking yes" and "smoking no" sections but this seems to matter little to smokers who come and sit in either section or employees who fail to tell them to leave. After a little while, I figured out that if I had been in a pc place in the non-smoking section for a while and some disgusting slime came and lit up a cigarette next to me, I could ask him to put it out. Usually he wouldnt and then I'd tell the PC room manager to tell him to do that. The PC room managers are usually High school kids and they don't wanna tell some scary looking ajashi to put out his cigarette. So, hopefully I had been there for a while and racked up a nice 4000 won bill because at that point I just walked out without paying. They're not gonna enforce the smoking policy for non smokers like me then Im not gonna abide by the 'paying policy' for them... hehe |

Japan net cafes totally kick ass on Korea's, IMO. Cleaner, more private, less noisy, and better services. But its usually the equiv of 2-3000won more per hr. Often have private booths, too, so you don't have to deal with the smoke and noise from others. |
Well, almost everything is cleaner & more expensive in Japan, so it makes sense that their version of PC bangs would be as well. But in Korea, who determines how grungy PC bangs get, the customers or the owners? I wouldn't know about the average patron of Japanese net cafes, but to my eyes the clientele of Korean PC bangs actually look the type to smoke where it wasn't permitted, put a burn on a keyboard and say nothing about it, or swipe a mouse or two.
Okay, I suppose if someone threw enough money at it, you could trick out the swankiest PC bang in Buddhadom, nice furniture, the latest games, quality equipment, clean air, good snacks... but what would it cost you to build it? what would it cost you in time & money (and dedicated, on-the-ball staff -- the rarest commodity) to police it and keep it that way? what premium would you have to charge to make it profitable? and most important, do you seriously think enough Korean PC bangers would choose your place instead of the 1,000 - 2,000 won-cheaper joint in the adjacent building? Remember, this is the 300 won vending machine coffee crowd, who spit in their empty paper cups & use them as ashtrays. (And those are the big spenders)

They're modern-day opium dens from all I've seen, except with tobacco instead of opium and Starcraft instead of mah-jong. And scads of schoolchildren.

And people wonder why Koreans have a bad impression of foreigners. Lucky for you they didn't call the police on their cell phone. |
