I need to leave Korea because my visa has expired and re-enter to obtain a new tourist visa. What is the cheapest way to do this - would taking the hydrofoil boat to Fukuoka be the best way (around 180,000 won)? I've heard of boats going to other locations to Japan for a lot cheaper. I don't have to do a visa run, so it can be anywhere out of the country. Suggestions anyone? Thanks! |

From Seoul, a round trip to Busan on the KTX costs about 100,000 Won, plus the 180,000 for the boat makes it 280,000 Won. Would a flight from Seoul to anywhere in Japan be cheaper? |

If you want ot make the boat trip cheaper. You can not take the KTX the normal train is 1/2 the price and that price of 180 000 is crazy. Goto Jtravel and they will help you find a chepaer boat. |

If you get to Busan, the cheapest place in japan to get to is the small island of Tsushima, which is about half-way between Busan and Fukuoka. If all you care about is going somewhere (anywhere) in Japan for as cheap as possible, there's no need to take the boat all the way to Fukuoka. Just go to Tsushima.
As for flights, you can get a roudtrip flight to Fukuoka for around 300,000 or possible cheaper. You could save a lot of time on trains and boats if you just fly. |

Went to the airport today - cheapest I could find was 380,000! I'm looking into Tsushima now. Has ANYONE done this before and can tell me what port to goto? I think it's the Sea Flower 2 at the International Passenger Terminal, peir 11. Also, in order to re-enter Korea, do I need to be out of the country for one day or is it possible to return on the same day? Any info would be of help. Thanks again! |

The cheapest plane tickets would be at discount travel agencies, not the airport. Try Top Travel. They have several locations around Seoul. In Shinchon they are a couple floors above the cafe called "A Twosome Place" right at the Shinchon intersection. |

It is possible to come back the same day..
However, you may get some raised eyebrows at immigration and a bit if a check against your name for future reference - the ones at Busan know if a guy has been here for 3-6 months and come back the same day they left on a tourist visa then what they are up to and could possibly refuse entry but i would doubt that(but it has happened to someone i know) so maybe it might be wiser to spread the trip to japan over a few days.... |
