A day early. I got a valentine's day chocolate box from a second-year university student who is spending this month back here in her hometown inbetween semesters, taking my adult class. We don't have a Tuesday adult class, only M-W-Th, so she gave it to me Monday, after everyone left and with such guarded, nervous, excited attitude that i thought it must be a bomb or her panties she was about to pull out of her shoulder bag.

The chocolates were fancy and she kept staring at me after I said thank you three different ways. Did she expect me to give her some in return? or something else?

I played dense, as I often do with the 18-22 year old crowd. Don't I seem too old for them? I'm 36 feeling like i'm going on 40 on some days. They seem like overaged children to me.

Anyways, she finally left five minutes later when students from my last class of the day come in. But she still showed all the signs of anticipating something, acting like her giving me chocolate was so meaningful. Embarassed ... Rolling Eyes

And she asked an odd question: "You will eat them by yourself?" Oh yeah, i said, I won't share them with any students. "nobody?' she asked. "just me" I said. And I thanked her again.

I felt both flattered and bothered. Bittersweet chocolate.

What'd you get/give?

I'm giving my bf some sour candies (he prefers em over chocolate) and stuff from the Face Shop. I'm celebrating 4 days late. I'm meeting him in Malaysia; haven't seen him for 6 months and won't see him for another 6 thereafter. So it's going to be a bittersweet Valentines day like in the movies. Cool

I've got a stack of chocolate on my desk worthy of the chocolate gods.

Though, one student handed it to me only after making it very clear that it was his mom's idea. Laughing

I didn't plan anything special, but I did share some of my Andes chocolate (a la HomePlus) with my kids.

I spent the last two days talking about Valentine's Day - the differences between America and Korea. Okay, so Valentine's day is not for females in korea as they are the ones expected to give chocolate to males. I guess "white's day" is the day females get all the candy from males so I have to wait. This all being said, I did received a large size chocolate bar from a female student who brought in one for every male student in class. I thought that was VERY nice of her. She's cute as can be. The males in class sounded disappointed that I didn't bring in chocolate for them too. Shocked Another class I got a few pieces of chocolate. I'm looking forward to black noodle day.... I guess they are good. Confused

She was being a greedy sow and wanted to help you eat them.

Good work on the block. More chocolate for you.

I was going to get my gf a 1 hour massage. I don't know what she was getting me but then I got sick with stomach flu and spent all valentines eve and valentines day sleeping on the bathroom floor/vomitting. She spent her free time that day boiling hot water and putting in DVDs for me to watch. In a way, the Valentines day gift from her was having her with me Smile

I need help with this valentines day stuff??
What exactly does it mean when a Korean girl gives a guy chocs on valentines day- eg Korean girl likes the boy???? good manners?????

I got 3 surprises on valentines day.
-2 really cute uni students (box of chocs), -
2 no-boyfriend middle school girls (we ate their choc together),

- a really expensive - beautifully wrapped mini-box of chocs from a single adult lady student. She left class with the other students , then snuck back to the teachers room and gave them to me. This is the one I'm worried about. (She's really shy/conservative and religious). Any ideas. Am I supposed to respond on white day with candy (just for good manners)??
