A fellow teacher got two "bills" in the mail today. Both for 5000 Won. There was a Red Cross label and they had Red Cross's internet address. Did anyone else get this, and what is it? She was wondering too and I asked her to ask the boss. Wondering why I didn't get one and maybe she got mine by mistake. Hmmm.

I got one of these a couple of weeks ago (just one...) I took it to my boss, who said he would 'take care' of it. Later that day I noticed that he'd left it with one of the K-English teachers, I guess in an attempt to palm it off.
I didn't get that good a look at it, but I think it was just one of those donation cards. I would assume non-mandatory, but I spose you never really know. Depends how you feel about the Korean Red Cross I guess.

I think they are mandatory . . . sort of. My wife pays them, but I think they are considered donations, meaning that you won't get in trouble if you don't pay, but you will be guilty of shirking your civic duty.

I'll double check with my wife, though.

Its a completely optional charity scheme.

Worthwhile org though -- I was happy to contribute.

I got one of those before and after the boss explained what they were, I wasn't happy. I'd be happy to contribute if they didn't set it up to make it look like a bill--to try to fool people into thinking that they HAD to pay. Anyway, that's one charity that didn't get any of my money. Confused

Why don't you tell them that you'll donate some money if they let you donate some blood and see what they say?
