I wouldn't say Islam is special in that dept. Want crazy dudes? Check out the mormon church. Let's just hope it never becomes a global power, then falls from grace and gets pissed off about it like Islam and Muslims:

This may be of interest:
If the people will let us alone we will preach
the gospel in peace. But if they come on to molest
us, we will establish our religion by the sword. We
will trample down our enemies and make it one gore of
blood from the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean.
I will be to this generation a second Mohammed, whose
motto in treating for peace was "the Alcoran [Koran]
or the Sword." So shall it eventually be with us --
"Joseph Smith or the Sword!"
Joseph Smith made this hollow threat on October 14th, 1838 in the town square at Far West, Missouri.
(Joseph Smith was the founder and "prophet" of the Mormons.) |

re: Mormonism.
19th Century America's 9-11...
Quote: |
The Mountain Meadows massacre occurred on Friday, September 11, 1857 in Mountain Meadows, Utah, several miles south of Enterprise in Washington County along the Spanish Trail to Santa Fe. Primarily Mormon militia and some Paiutes killed an entire wagon train of Arkansas farming families known as the Baker/Fancher party, traveling from Arkansas to California together with a group from Missouri that called themselves the "Missouri Wildcats". Around 120 unarmed men, women and older children were killed; 17 of the younger children (none older than six) were spared and all but one (who was raised in a Mormon family) were eventually returned to relatives in Arkansas.

(Of course I'm not saying that this is the be-all-and-end-all of Mormon history, just backing up Bucheon Bum's point about such activities not being confined to Islam) |

It is true. All strongly religious people have a screw loose.
But Mormons, they kill you with kindness. |

actually most violence in the name of religion performed by mormons is on fellow church members these days. At least that is what I gathered from the book, which I highly recommend. |

All I need to know about religion I get from South Park.
"Joseph Smith, he found some gold plates, dum dum dum dum dum."
Lucy Harris smart smart smart
Martin Harris dumb.
So Martin went on back to Smith
Said the pages had gone away
Smith got mad and told Martin
He needed to go pray
Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb
If you think about it, Comedy Central is pretty damned subversive!
How come they don't get shot at or firebombed? |

I haven't watched many southpark episodes but did manage to catch that one a year or two ago. Was very entertaining. |

Every fundimentalist has screws loose, even if they believe that Star Wars is better than Star Trek (or visa versa). Though the Star Wars geeks tend to be less dangerous than the Christian and Muslim kinds, they are much more annoying |
