I've been paying a chunk of my salary to a pension fund. What is the best way to get this back once your contract is over?

If you are Canadian or American:

You go to your nearest national pension office. You fill out a couple forms and decide how you want the money remitted: Cheque or Wire Transfer. If you want the wire transfer you need a copy of your bank book (which I didn't have). I asked for a Cheque. They told me it could take up to three months to get it. I got mine about a month after I left.

Its a very easy procedure, you just need your ARC, your passport a plane ticket (to prove you are leaving) and your social insurance number (in Canada or US).

I went to the Gangnam (Seocho) office and the staff there seemed pretty familiar with the procedure. Your mileage may vary with more remote offices.

But what if you are coming back? I mean, I have a round-trip ticket, but I'm only coming back to hang out for a few months, not to work. Do I do the paperwork now or when I'm absolutely finished with Korea forever? I may take another job here I may not, but I don't want to get stuck in the window of opportunity.
