Worked there 7 years ago...

negatives--low hourly pay...no fixed schedule(teaching schedule posted 5 pm for next day only)....no severance....must use their teaching method....training period is unpaid...no raises year to year...a little clicquish--if you weren't one of the in-group you didn't get as many hours(if you wanted to work many to increase your pay)

positives--always paid on time--twice a month, if you have no teaching experience(or even if you do) they will train you in their methodology before you start teaching, travel time when required to teach at a company is paid, albeit at a lower rate, no major hassle to take vacation time--even up to a month off

There have been a number of threads about Berlitz over the past few years......mostly negative.

Their contracts these days don't even offer you the basics as set forth in Korean Labor Laws. Pay is nothing special, they screw you on vacation days, and a few other things I can't remeber off the top of my head.

I remember someone telling me that they got a job at Berlitz and they had to find their own apartment. They were staying in a motel until they could find a suitable place.

Apparently it's easier for older applicants to get a job there. Since they're an international company they don't have some of the same prejudices that companies run by Koreans do.
