|
|
Im so sick of my apartment smelling of rotting vegetable matter, just because I dared to wash some slightly dirty dishes in the sink.
Here is my solution.
1. Metal Rice steaming grate from Homeplus - 2000won
2. Put grate in sink.
3. Enjoy the smell of fresh air. |

Or you could change (and keep clean) the gray plastic food trap in the sink. |

Your sink stinks because you washed dishes? Does that happen every time? And it doesn't happen if you don't wash dishes?
Three things help prevent bad smells and clogs.
1. The aforementioned plastic food trap. These are usually grey, but not always.
2. The round plastic lid or plug (with rubberised inner rim) that fits over top of the drain. For some reason, people like to misplace these things and often forget they ever had them. They are necessary, and you can buy them at a hardware/plumbing shop.
3. The "water seal" just below the food trap, deep in the drain. The circular "foot" of the food trap rests in a small trough of water like a little moat around the actual drainpipe. This should prevent any odours from wafting up from the drain. You might want to check to make sure that trough is there, isn't broken or cracked, and that the foot of the food trap fits properly into it. |
