what is a good hourly rate? does it vary by city? i am currently in Busan and most things in general seem a bit less expensive here and therefore contribute to slightly lower pay.
i am asking on behalf of one of my Korean co-teachers, i think her boyfriend is going to host a weekly study room and they wanna know what to pay/charge... |

You should know that nobody on this board is going to confess to knowing anything about doing anything considered illegal in Korea. Use you head. Also, if your friend doesn't have a clue as to reasonable rates in the market he/she proposes to do business, then they just aren't ready to open up shop!
Further, you have to be either 1) really new, or 2) really unpopular (or both), if you don't know anyone locally that can provide information. |

A little undercover work at the competition might be in order. |

Dont settle for less than 50,000 won per hour....okay you can settle for less but the way I did it was:
35,000 won an hour if there was no travel time and only one student.
50,000 won per hour if there was any travel time and up to two students.
Each additional student over two I charged an additional 10,000 won. |

Ive turned down offer of 45,000 an hour. I think that 50,000 is minimum unless its a group and you give discounts. This goes for privates. For part-time jobs, 50 has to be the minimum. Ive seen Pagoda Outsourcing offering 35 an hour..what a goddamn joke. |

I charged 40 per person. I never take less because of the stress and extra work involved. Also, they can pay 40. |
