The word on the street is there is a crackdown happening in Daejeon. I heard this directly from my bosses at school. They are sending some teachers down there to fill positions because immigration is visiting the large chain hagwons trying to bust them for bring in teachers without visas.

Supposedly this is being done to give smaller hagwans in Daejeon a better chance. Personally, it doesn't make sense to me, but I guess you never know.

Again, I state this is only a rumor as I've gotten info second hand.

If anyone hears anything, please let us know...

Hmmm...I don't know about Daejeon, but the focus for this year in Seoul is reportedly going to be the Chinese E2 teachers who moonlight or are teaching Chinese on tourist visas.

Some of you may laugh at seeing the contrast with the english E2 stuff that we always talk about here, but the same issues go on with them, but with less financial stakes, obviously.

I must have missed the SBS expose of Chinese teachers dating Korean women.

Going back to post on Chinese Spectrum.

Where was it said that they only focus on teachers? Do you think that the Russian entertainers or hundreds of thousands of factory workers from China and SE Asia huddle around and talk about immigration busts on teachers, or that they'll likely talk about all the busts in their field and the low profiles that many of their colleagues have to do. We're not the only ones in the Korean immigration universe. In fact, we're one of the smaller contingents that they have to worry about.
