Sorry to disappoint the nay-sayers, but Canada's women's team is smoking Sweden for the gold medal right now at 4-0 going into the 3rd period.

Go Canada!!!!

P.S. The women's hockey team just won the Olympic gold medal..........again Very Happy

...and the men's team crumbled.

So bite me.

I don't care how many gold medals we win, it is still too boring.

All the guys on here that say the women are not as talented as a third line Jr.B centre or are equivalent to 12 year old boys are freaking idiots. Any one of the women on the national team for Canada would skate circles around any of you guys making these idiotic comments.

Anyone making a comment like that is a complete idiot.

I used to practice with Cambell and some other players that I don't think play anymore. I stand by my assertion that they are not very good.

Ever watch hockey buddy?

Granted this is way late but your comment is bunk. I've watched and played hockey all of my life. I'm blessed to have come from a place where there's loads of hockey talent....male and female (per capita I suppose Wink ). I've played with and against some of the more talented women I'm sure in Canada. Because some of them are not in the national program says a lot about the low quality of the national program. Many of those girls put themselves through school all over the place(mostly U.S.) and made All-Canadian university squads over and over again. I'm not saying they're up to snuff with the pros....for sure they're not....but comparing them to a "third line junior b center" is crap....not giving them enough credit IMO. I'd love to see your overassuming ass get blown up by pretty much any one of those players.....It'd be funny to see.

That reminds of this high school goalie I knew one summer. He got out on the ice with a couple of former minor leaguers and one guy who used to play for the Leafs in the Original Six era. I didn't watch them play but he came back into the locker room, threw his helmet on the floor and yelled FVCK!!!

I was an All-Canadian athlete (cross-country running) and let me tell you that there is nothing special about it whatsoever. I only made it because I was the second-best runner on a very lousy team and had a very high GPA. I was a closet smoker (at least around the coach) and skipped the provincial championships because my thesis supervisor wanted me to attend a history conference. I skipped the provincial awards banquet because I didn't want to miss my reading (drinking) club. If these gals are as good at hockey as I was at running, we're talking very mediocre indeed.

I still don't agree. It has been about 10 years since I played with some of the women, but back then they were nothing special and from what I watch on TV, they are still nothing special.

I didn't compare them to "third line junior b center". I said they were like "watching the 12 year olds I used to coach" Wink Yes, a bit of an exaggeration. But I stand by my statement that their passing is atrocious, their pucks flutter all over the place, and they're goalies are slow.

Your comments about putting themselves through school. Big deal. Their competition is other women.

Let's just say we disagree.
