I just pinged for nearly 80k on a $250 order from vickies. I don't see why I should pay a punitive tax to protect an industry that doesn't produce clothes that I can wear.

If I want to buy shoes here then I have to buy men's shoes, because I wear a size 10. Wearing men's shoes to work out in is one thing. But they don't exactly go well with my skirts and dresses.

I can't buy decent exercise bras that won't have my boobies flying all over the place when I work out. And the few regular ones in my size are so ugly that I don't think my grandmother would wear them.

If I can get past the local vendor screaming 'no big size' I find that hour glass figures don't go well with the clothes here and being 5'10" makes trousers look like capris.

So I now have a choice between slumping around in badly-fitting men's stuff or have stuff sent to my parents place where they unpackage and re-post it back to Korea to stop paying these ridiclous fees.

I just recieved 700 dollars worth of clothes. I had to get all the tags removed and I just declared 100 buck on 3 packages. No tarifs.. Yeah I agree with you , I hate the crap of tarifs on stuff that doesn't exist in South Korea.

If it makes you feel better, Men have some of the same issues. It took me 3 weeks and hours of shopping to find a sports jacket that fit me. Koreans clothes aren��t made for Men with big shoulders, all jackets either are too tight or the sleeves are 6 inches to long.

I feel like the incredible hulk when I shop for jackets. Guess I��m outside the mold as well.

Thanks crazylemongirl for the female perspective on shopping for clothes in Korea. I've learned something today.

Shopping for big men's clothes here is (fortunately for me) less difficult (maybe because there are so many male G.I.s). Itaewon has a pretty good selection - except underwear and socks.

If I were you, I'd shop on Ebay. I've bought shirts from the Ebay sellers and asked them to write a low value like $10 on the customs label. I always get them duty-free. This is how I get my clothes when the selection in Itaewon won't do.

Yes. I know Victoria's Secrets very well. I have researched their website for my wife many, many times!!

Did you see that Victoria Secrets-style store in COEX? Some of the stuff sure looks sexy to me. But I guess they won't have any size larger than 'medium-waif'.

If it's any consulation, Asian women in North America often have to select their clothes - especially tops - from the children's section.

if the order is under 100$ including shipping, they don't charge any added tax. Next time just order in smaller batches.

I thought the limit before they charged you with duty/taxes was US$150, including shipping costs.

Where can I check this to find out the exact amount?

Perhaps such headaches will subside if the proposed FTA between the US and Korea is ratified. It'll certainly make a lot of other things cheaper (i.e. cars).

Someone above mentioned sports jackets. Why not just go to a tailor and have it custom made? I do this for all my dress clothes and I assume they could whip up a good-looking sports jacket for you.
