|
|
My E2 is about to run out Thursday next week. I have been with the same school for three years.
My question is this: Is it possible to extend my visa for a week or so (I don't want to renew) so I can tie up loose ends before I depart for a six month holiday. Otherwise, I have to leave the same day as my last day at work - akward because I am still not organised.
Do immigration allow this? What are the costs? Does my school need to help, or can I do it alone? Can it only be done via/through the school?
Cheers for any help with this ^^ |

Yes, you need to do this at the immigration office as far in advance as possible. You should have your plane ticket to show them when you are leaving. Any extension costs 30,000 won, whether it's a week or a year. |

Of course things may have changed, but the last time I got an extension on an E-2, they had me pay the W30,000, but when the girl went to glue the stamp to the application form, she realized my extension was only for one day, and refunded the fee. (Actually, the date stamp slipped and she accidentally gave me an extension for two years and one day , but she caught and corrected her error! ) |

I just did this. My ARC expired yesterday and I'm taking 2 weeks off to relax before I go to Japan for my new job. I took my ARC and my plane ticket to Japan to immigration and they extended my ARC for 2 weeks without any problems. They asked "why extend"? I told them I wanted to travel, and they said OK. No Fee. Thank you and enjoy your stay.
