Has this happened to others? I thought I liked Korean food. I go for lunch today and there's cold mandoo, cold soggy alphapha sprouts, kimchi, rice, and seaweed soup, and I think 'people consider this a meal'? I wonder what food at a Thai high school would taste like and if cheap Korean restaurant food would be remarkably superior - I bet it just might? Oh where in Daugu can I go for a nice Thai curry?

Yieee.... I had exactly the same experience this week after three weeks in Thailand. There's nothing but Korean food where I live, out in the country. I did find some Thai spices at Carrefour and I made my own curry dinner. Wasn't too bad.

I know what you mean. I took the advice of some posters here and checked out "Little Thai", in the Seoul Finance Center near City Hall. I'll have to find another Thai place. Great atmosphere, great price but the food was terribly disappointing. Soggny spring rolls and the pad thai noodles weren't spicy, weren't flavourful, just BLAND. And if they can't make pad thai well......well I ain't trying anything else.

The [place is only good for those with desensitized palates...going to do more research and check out another place for pad thai...

I also had Thai food withdrawal when I came back from Thailand at Christmas. If you ever come to Seoul there is a great Thai place with Thai chefs, Thai atmosphere and decent prices. They make a hell of a Pad Thai too. This restaurant just opened about three months ago.

It is right behind the Kyobo building in Gangnam area.

Check out the webpage if interested.

You're not alone. I didn't mind my Korean food lunches before Thailand but ever since a vacation there over Christmas, I have trouble with the cold, soggy dishes.

Is Thai Orchid in Itaewon any good?

I wasn't that impressed with my Patang curry and foreign restaurant surtax over rice. I think I'll try the place newinseoul recomended next time.

Sawatdee in Songtan was pretty good. If you like spicy they will give it to you. Everything I tried there was tasty....not quite as zesty as authentic Thai food but there are a selection of chilis, peppers and sauces at your table to make your dish as zingy as you wish.
