Well last school year I had 4 coteachers. 3 of the 4 had a lowish level, but they tried and we had a laugh.
Now the one high level and 2 of the lower level ones have left. This term I only have one coteacher, a replacement high level teacher. Its a shame, i enjoyed teaching with a variety of people. I asked why the other 3 english teachers arent having classes with me and its because they dont like to speak english.
Seems a bit strange, but I find it quite worrying. If the teachers are unwilling to use the language they're teaching how can the students be expected to accquire it? |

At my school last school year, I also taught with different people, and they mostly had lower ability levels.
This year, my principal put all the teachers that can even speak half decent English, as home room teachers in grade's 1 and 2. This year, I am going to have nothing the even resembles a co-teacher and I have to teach every class by myself. All the home room teachers are supposed to come to the classes, but only 1 of them can even communicate in English. I don't really know what I think about it.
I don't mind teaching by myself, but it is nice to have someone else there to help with the lesson on those days where things aren't going that great. Also, now all the preperation is completely up to me, which isn't really a problem, but it is nice to have someone else to do some of the work as well. |

I'm in the same boat as you. 3 out of the five teachers with decent English ability have left my school. Now there's only two and I only have one class with them once a week. I think the best thing that single teachers in Korean public schools can do (for language learning) is learn some Korean. It makes the classes go so much smoother.
Think about any language instructor you may have had. Didn't she/he/they use English at a few points? |

Yeah, but they were real teachers. |

Yes, but I wish they wouldn't have. I think the main reason I can't speak French very well today (even though I took it from Kindergarten to Grade 11) is because my teachers rarely ever addressed us in French in class...and we didn't speak it either. I think Native languages should be completely banned from second language classes. |
