Does anyone else enjoy the Olympics enough to have been frustrated that the only coverage I seemed to find was the endless replays of the short-track speed skating events where the Korean athletes cleaned up?
(Incidentally, among all those incessant replays, I have yet to see the 500M Mens Individual where Apolla Anton Ohno won the gold medal. Most people in Korea probably don't even know that he did win one!) |

It's like that in any country - Canada is just as bad and America is even worse.
The best place to watch the Olympics is Montreal. You get the Canadian, Quebecois, American, and French coverage. Radio Canada and TV5 are by far better. |

Is that so?
Being American, I'm sure I'm not as sensitive to it, but in the US you can see bobsledding, ski jumping, even biathalon and cross-country skiing, and Americans are never good at many of those events.
Of course, they will put patriotic music together and show highlights of Americans succeeding rathing than failing, but in terms of coverage you can see nearly every event whether or not Americans are competing for medals. Here I couldn't even watch the events. |

What I find to be the most annoying thing is that they are still showing coverage of the Olympic games. And of course they are showing events that they won in. Way to stroke an ego that's already far too big. I'm praying for more coverage of the 2002 World Cup. I know, replay the Spain vs. Korea game!! Let's relive how great *cough* we are. |

In Canada a lot of Olympic coverage has traditionally been about the sport. yes, canada has medals in ten sports this olympics, and probably had coverage of those sports as a result.
But I was also raised on olympic coverage of sports Canada had no chance to medal in.
The Olympics to me has always been about the spirit of amateurs from the world over trying their best to be the best at something.
My national sentiments were secondary. Primary was the individual's drive to excellence. Bronze medals were often portrayed in Canada as huge accomplishments.
Sweden's silver medal in women's ice hockey is an example of that drive to be the best one can be.
I love to see the personal accomplishment of others profiled. It makes me teary eyed. It's wonderful to see someone work so hard and accomplish something. The best moments are those athletes who come in 6th and are ecstatic at setting personal career bests. I suspect the coverage of such successes are less these days.
And South Korea certainly doesn't appreciate that aspect of Olympic competition. They think it's all about the flag. That's sad, really. And many in other countries think likewise. |

The coverage really sucked here. I'ts not just as bad in Canada. It's could be a little worse in the U.S., but I think they've change quite a bit.
Maybe they had 24-hour coverage on sattelite here. Not sure. I'm guessing "not" though.
Back home, you get basically 24-hour coverage. I didn't have a schedule/TV guide here, but it seemed a little confusing. I could see the starting times of events, channel surf to the channels covering the games, and it would be off. Hockey games were virtually not covered live and only a minimal amount were shown. I can't be sure about most things though since they were on so late.
I'm going to Vancouver for the next games. Then I can pick and choose what I want to see. Live. |

Based upon their coverage of these past games, these muppets do not deserve to host in 2014.
BTW, it is not the same in Canada or the US. Both countries show just about everything. I watched hockey games on American networks where neither the US nor Canada were playing.
These twits would break away from the exciting final of some event to show You Suk-Bum, currently in 123rd place at the 3 klick mark of the 100 klick long-distance cross country ski event. And they would just follow him...through the woods...talkng about how Koreans are genetically more suited to cross-country skiing than other races, and that studies of the shape and size of their heads shows this to be so. |

I've seen '98, '02 and '06. They have all sucked. At least saw hockey games in '02. |

Really? I didn't see any. Should've looked harder I guess.
You know, when you phone the networks and ask why there isn't more hockey, andgyou get the 'This is Korea' line...They do not deserve to host an Olympics. A World Short Track Chamionship maybe, but an Olympics? No. |
