I hate flying, and I hate transfers. So, what's the fastest most hassle free way to do this trip?

Also, last year my son was 9 months old, and paid 10% fare. This year he will be 21 months old when he flies. What kind of fare can I expect?

You don't like flying and you're sensitive on price?

Then simply buy an Incheon-Montreal ticket and bus it the rest of the way.

Simple and hassle free.

Air Canada has a direct flight from Seoul to Toronto, so you could probably get the bus to Incheon, and then only have to deal with one transfer. Oh, and according to the Air Canada website, kids under 2 are considered infants.

I hate buses more than flying because they are slower. I'm very impatient. I don't enjoy the journey unless it is Sunday drive type stuff. When I head for Canada I want a fast and painless trip. I don't sleep well in chairs, and can't afford first class. Last year I stayed overnight in Vancouver just to break up the trip a bit, but I'm not sure if that is the most satisfying solution to the hassle of a long journey.

Kangsan in Busan can never seem to get Incheon/Toronto/Halifax or Incheon/Vancouver/Halifax. They always want to add the extra transfer. Nothing else is possible they say.

I know Busan has flights to Japan. Do any of these connect to Toronto? That would at least save going to Incheon. Heading to Seoul and getting onto my plane at Incheon usually adds five or six hours onto the trip all told. However, I would prefer to fly to Seoul from Busan if I have to go to Incheon.

Try Japan Airlines.

You can buy a ticket on Japan Airlines for Busan to Vancouver with a short transit stop in Tokyo.

JL958 (Busan - Tokyo) (1420-1615)
JL18 (Tokyo - Vancouver) (1750-0920)

Total time: 12 hours.
You won't get to Canada faster or more direct than that.

Maybe Northwest: Busan-Tokyo-Detroit-TO-Halifax?

Air Canacrap: Busan-Seoul-TO-Halifax (price will be higher)

You can expect to pay full fare or, if you are lucky, get a 10% discount on your childs seat.

I once did Incheon-New York, and flew to Halifax from there. Don't know what the price is like nowadays though.

Northwest--Busan-->Tokyo-->Detroit-->Halifax

Speaking of crappy travel service in Canada, take a look at this:

USA:
Via Amtrak, Seattle to Boston (Seattle/Chicago/New York/Boston) - $147.00 for a coach seat.

Canada:
Via Rail, Vancouver to Halifax (Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal/Halifax) -
CAN$881.68 for a coach seat.

If you wanted to get to Vancouver from Halifax, it's FAR CHEAPER to go across the USA and then duck up across the border. VIA RAIL SUCKS!!!!

For its size, Busan is underserved by major carriers. So is Seoul, if you really look into who flies here and how often. In any case, your only realistic options out of Busan would be flying to Incheon, Taipei, Tokyo, or Osaka. You said a couple of other things that raise questions, though.

Have you checked airline websites? I was able to fly to Singapore last summer when travel agent after travel agent told me all flights were full. United had seats. I went. I don't have much patience with travel agents: they can do good things, but there are mysterious gaps in their abilities sometimes, too.

Your obvious connections would be
Busan - Incheon - Vancouver - Halifax
Busan - Incheon - Toronto - Halifax

You could subsitute Tokyo or Taipei for Incheon but you're still changing planes a few times.

If you're going to be in the air that long, isn't there a point after which it becomes sort of academic? How much worse would it be to fly Emirates from Incheon to New York, via Dubai? Overnight in NYC and take Canjet back to Halifax? You'd probably pay less, have nice interesting stopovers, and have much better service.
