Listen up! Anyone know what happened to SNL on AFN? They make a lot of fun of their C&C and that is, I guess, against the uniform code of opsec space A pcsing. Maybe those dastardly Wong Dong market people recently started shipping pirated copies to troops in Iraq.
Family Guy runs Sunday night and that's pretty unfamily fare... |

You actually miss that show? My God, it was the best reason for going out on Saturday night that I had. How many times did one episode get repeated? Occasionally, there was a funny skit - in which case the skit would be repeated on new shows with almost the same dialogue. They clinged so much to their past and had trouble developing much new.
As much as I love most American TV, the Brits really outclass in satirical comedy shows. Remember 'Not the nine o'clock news' 'Red Dwarf'. I even laughed more at old episodes of 'The Goodies'. |

Actually, last nitght's show was the first new one I had seen in ages and it was very entertaining. That had a lot to do with Natalie Portman guest hosting, who happened to be very funny. I wonder if she'll ever get a lead in a comedy... could be an Alec Baldwin thing. |

Not only is Saturday Night Live apparently gone, but the last couple weeks Meet the Press (usually shown late-night Sundays) hasn't been broadcast either. What topical humor shows will be removed next? Jay Leno and Dave Lettermen? I suspect that Donald Rumsfeld, who is the highest leader specifically in charge of AFN programming, is exercising censorship to prevent American forces from hear damning news and cutting jokes about the inept bozos in the current administration... |

I've been watching SNL since the start. Yes, yes it's not as good as it used to be and such and such were funnier and they lost their edge etc. There are always a couple comedians, however, that have their moments and if I'm home there really isn't much else on my Korean cable TV. |

Rumsfeld exercising censorship on AFN. Yeah right. That's funny. You should be writing for SNL.
Paranoid. |

Backlash Over Armed Forces Radio Nixing Progressive Talker Ed Schultz's Military Radio Debut Continues
by Joe Gandelman
Perhaps Pentagon (or high administration) officials felt that pulling the plug on progressive talk show host Ed Schultz's debut on Armed Forces Radio literally hours before his show was to be broadcast would make it just go away.
If so, they badly miscalculated.
The reasons: On his show, Schultz is reminding his listeners of the agreement his show had to be broadcast, the controversy has gathered traction in terms of the mainstream news media, gotten attention on cable, and Democratic Senators have sent a pointed letter to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld...
More than a year ago, the Senate unanimously adopted a resolution offered by Senator Harkin expressing the sense of the Senate that the Secretary of Defense should ensure full implementation of the American Forces Radio and Television Service goal of maintaining equal opportunity balance with respect to political programming.
AFN Radio carries the shows of a wide range of conservatives, including Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Schlesinger, and James Dobson, to the near total exclusion of progressive talk radio hosts. This is in violation of DoD's own guidelines on political programming on the American Forces Network...http://www.themoderatevoice.com/posts/1129799370.shtml |

Ah quit your bellyachin'! Oh, AFN doesn't carry SNL...a real tragedy there. Hell, did you see that episode of Family Guy last night...funny stuff... Brian is cool. Anyhow, just be thankful that you get AFN. As far as the new AFN Extra...you'll have to have someone from the military help you get a decoder box(ain't getting one) because you aren't gonna get that channel on your Korean cable package. |

Apparently AFN is really pushing soliders to get the sat dishes so they are putting most programing on those channels thats why there is now virtually no sports on AFN Prime now. I got an email into AFN Korea they answered all programming decisions are made in Calif and the guy said they would get back to me. The guy at AFN Korea has been really good in getting back to me over the years.
They did show "This week" ABCs answer to Meet the Press this morning at 7AM but I really miss Russert, he's the best inteviewer out there.
Your best bet now is for shows either to download or get a slingbox set up in NA and for sports either a slingbox or pray streamtvnow is working |
