I fondly remember your valiant arguments in defence of carrots' rights -- their right not be cut, sliced, diced, pureed, juiced, etc.

Say, how's the Incredible, Unstoppable, Jack & the Beanstalk-esque plant of yours doing, EotW? Did you eat him (you murderer)?

that bastard nearly survived our trip to the states. the wife and i went to visit my family over the holiday, and we were gone for five weeks. there was nobody here who could water my plants, so most of them were dark brown and crispy. but the bean still had a green pod on it, and the bottom of the stalk was still green. i promtly gave it some water when i returned, but alas, he didn't make it. i've got about twenty seeds from it, though, and it's almost time to start planting again. this year should be a good one for my garden.
last year, on halloween, i also carved a pumpkin and saved all the seeds from that. i'm planning to get licqored up one of these nights and plant them all over the campus, so that this halloween will kick ass.

I know many chefs who will not accept orders for welldone!
they tell the waiters! tell the customers we only make medium otherwise they can order something else hahahaha
A chef wont destroy a piece of meat!

The ones who say such nonsense probably work at a steakhouse (ie. guys that don't have high standards or a reputation to maintain). My brother is a gourmet chef who has cooked for some of the best restaurants in Canada and France. He'd never say anything like that.

of course restaurants who are only out for money! will give the peasants what they want! gourmet chefs! will not COOK WELLDONE steaks! with a smile!

It does seem excessive to refuse to cook a steak to a paying customer's liking, but there does exist some snobbery about steak. The argument goes that good beef loses taste the more it's cooked, so folks who like well-done steak aren't enjoying it to its potential. A French friend of mine eats his steak almost raw! Shocked

Blackened on the outside, pink and bloody on the inside...ALL THE WAY! Cool

I like my steak blue - cooked a bit less than rare. After bse hit in the uk it was very difficult to get anything less than rare in the UK so when in the UK it is normally cooked rare whatever i ask for.

I find a good steak best when cooked less as it is melt in the mouth tendern but a bad steak I rather it was incinerated so i did not have to chew it for 10 days.

if you go to Wolfgang pucks restaurant IM sure he will not accept requests! unless you are SOME SUPER celebrity! these kinds of restaurants you go for skills of the chefs! not just the food! chicken is chicken and lamb is lamb!
but cooked to the way WOLFGANG thinks it should taste for that dish is the way its going out the kitchen! I think if a waiter brought back a plate and asked WOLFGANG "the steak is alitte under cooked WOLF. can you cook it more!! I Think the waiter will get a knife thrown at him! and the customer will be given the check! with a thank you please dont stop by again!

What's the name of the Korean steak tartar? Sounds like "Yoo Keh" (UK). It's pretty much the exact same dish as European steak tartar, mostly because the dish in both cases came from the Mongols.

Korean steak tartar was featured in a 1998 Korean movie called Girls Night Out, which made the rounds at international film festivals.

Note to "igotthisguitar": I think it's best not to disturb 'em on threads like this where they've got their gastric juices flowing (also, the guy on that tape you link to sounds too nerdy to be taken seriously by most down-to-earth folks...)
