If you are outside Korea and have a C-4 position that ends one day prior to the start of an E-2 position, can you get both of your visas issued at the same time?

It is a rare case, and I am wondering if any of you have ever had this done before (I am currently dealing with my Consular General at the moment about this, and he does not know the answer either).

The camp contract (C-4) ends August 19th and my public school position (E-2) begins August 20th, so time is a factor. Though under my E-2, I am not allowed to work elsewhere, those conditions do not apply until my contract begins (it is a non-issue).

If you have ever done this before, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I don't want to buy into this too much but for instance if you fly out to say Japan or catch the Hydrofoil then you can come back the same day and change from a E2 to a tourist visa. I know nothing about a C-4 visa.

If you phone ahead to a Korean Embassy in Japan then they can process a E2 visa in 4 hours at most of the Korean consulates .

You sound like you will be working with EPIK. If so, ask your local Korean EPIK supervisor to go with you to immigration and explain the problem as immigration usually bend a little on goverment positions.

The other thing is that with an E2 you are usually allowed to extend your stay in Korea up to a month by paying extra for a one month tourist visa. So if you do this then your local immigration office might process your paperwork here for your E2 which would mean that you would have to work ilegal for say a week and then have to take one day off work to do a quick round trip visa run to Japan.
