Hi,
I'm writing a paper for a Communications class on some aspect of Korean dramas and am trying to work up a list of dramas (very recent or older, any will do) that are located or partially located abroad or in exotic Korean locales (Jeju, etc.). I know about the Love Story at Harvard, Lovers in Paris, and isn't there one in Prague? Can anyone think of others? (Wasn't there one in SE Asia, that would be interesting...)
Thanks! |

I think the new one, Spring Waltz, might be the one in Prague. It definitely has a lot of action in Europe from what I've read. |

Winter Sonata was filmed in and around Chuncheon. The drama was popular enough to attract tourists (including Japanese and Chinese) to the city. Nami Island, where many of the scenes were shot, is now a sort of Winter Sonata theme park. |

oh, true enough. i just saw the ocean and the tropical-looking stuff and thought it was jeju. but, yeah, 'All In' is from jeju, forgot about that one.
What's the name of the one with the guy and girl in america/canada and the guy is a hustler who speaks 3 languages? and he wears a funny hat. it's killing me trying to figure that out. |

I think you may be referring to 'Something Happened in Bali' starring Ha Ji Won, So Ji Sub, and Cho In Sung |

There was a whole string of dramatic music videos/mini-movies filmed in Canada a few years back. Don't know if that would fit your bill but might be useful as a sub-point. |

But really, what's the point? Here's the difference between locally filmed dramas and ones filmed in other countries:
Local: Korean man and woman sit in restaurant, customers are chatting and laughing happily in the background. Woman stares at man, her eyes brimming with tears, as he has just told her that they can no longer see each other because he has cancer. He looks towards the floor, his face stern with grief.
Foreign: Korean man and woman sit in restaurant, foreigners are chatting and laughing happily in the background. Woman stares at man, her eyes brimming with tears, as he has just told her that they can no longer see each other because he has cancer. He looks towards the floor, his face stern with grief. |
